Elizabeth Olsen Told Marvel Co-Star Tom Holland It Was Okay To Say No

Tom Holland, who plays Spider-Man in No Way Home, explains that his Marvel Cinematic Universe co-star Elizabeth Olsen gave him some sound advice on saying no. Since initially donning the mask, the star of Marvel and Sony’s current Spider-Man trilogy has been regularly in the spotlight and is adored by his fans. So it’s not hard to assume that during his climb to prominence; he struggled to say no to demands from creatives and admirers.

Holland was chosen by thousands of actors to play Spider-Man/Peter Parker in the Russo Brothers’ Captain America: Civil War; and hasn’t stopped since. He has appeared in both Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame; as well as three Spider-Man solo films: Homecoming, Far From Home; and the upcoming No Way Home, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Though he appears to have grown accustomed to popularity; he has learnt some crucial lessons about taking time for himself. He is noted for being full of excitement and being game for anything on-set and off.

According to a new interview with GQ, Olsen was the one who advised Holland that it was fine to say no. He brings it up after talking about the physical and mental toll of his nonstop filming and publicity tours. While he is convinced that he will always be a people-pleaser, willing to put his all into his endeavours for the sake of the fans; Olsen’s words reassured him that it’s okay to take a step back now and again. Read the following quote from him:

I actually learned this from Elizabeth Olsen. She gave me an amazing piece of advice: ‘No’ is a full sentence. ‘No’ is enough.

Tom Holland Won’t Be Spider-Man Forever

Being thrown into the Marvel spotlight had to have had its ups and downs for the young actor; especially given he was only 19 years old at the time he was hired as Spider-Man. Hearing about his earlier press tours, when he would perform backflips if asked and pushed himself to make every appearance; helps to establish an image of a young actor trying his hardest not to let anyone down. It’s a credit to his character that he’s endured and grown into a stable adult; avoiding many of Hollywood’s temptations for the young and famous.

The real question is whether Holland’s run as Spider-Man will come to an end following the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home. While Holland’s first deal with Sony ends with this picture; it appears that both Sony and Marvel could easily make a number of future movies starring Holland’s Spider-Man; especially since that their universes appear to be combining this year.

While fans haven’t grown tired of Holland’s Marvel hero, he has acknowledged that he won’t be Spider-Man indefinitely; and he appears to be cool with the prospect that the greatest thing for the series would be for him to leave. Holland’s position as one of the MCU’s most beloved performers may be cemented by this kind of acceptance.
