Despite just recovering from COVID, members of BTS were shining bright at the 2022 Grammys. However, the K-Pop group lost to Doja Cat and SZA who took home the Best Duo/Group award for Kiss Me More.
BTS ARMYs were unhappy but not shocked as they have come to terms with the thinking that Grammy Awards do not decide BTS’ success. Irrespective of not getting a Grammy, the group has done extremely well globally and is credited with putting K-Pop on the global map.
For fans, BTS has already won even if they haven’t gotten an award. BTS was nominated for their successful 2021 single, ‘Butter,’ at the 2022 Grammys, and despite the fact that the Recording Academy did not honor BTS, the single is still doing well on the charts throughout the world. The musicians of the boy band will soon demonstrate the power of BTS in Las Vegas when they perform their four-day sold-out performance, ‘Permission to Dance on Stage.’
Irrespective of being snubbed, BTS supporters argue that the group does not require a Grammy. Fans say the event needs BTS to remain relevant. This marks the second time that BTS is snubbed in a row. Like many other fandoms, ARMYs have had a negative experience with the ceremony.
BTS did not win a Grammy last year for their 2020 all-English single, ‘Dynamite,’ and as Grammy history repeats itself, the boy band has failed to score a victory at the ceremony for the second year in a straight.
ARMYs who did not anticipate much from the program are discussing how BTS is the most worthy music artist who has been ignored at the show previously. BTS fans are pointing out that the Academy has to do better.
Actor and Billboard Host, Tetris Kelly tweeted about the Grammys 2022 snub saying, “SERIOUSLY?!?! 2 YEARS?! The biggest pop songs?! Love these girls, but C’MON!!! This was for our boys. I’m GUTTED!!!”
One polite fan said, “Army s do not to be rude to grammys no matter what happens we still win!! thankyou.” One fan said, “THANK YOU BTS. WIN NO MATTER WHAT.” Another fan said, “WIN NO MATTER WHAT I’m so proud of you BTS. Army will always proud to be with you.”
