Actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s father has filed a police complaint against his girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty, also an actor, over a month after he was found dead in his Mumbai apartment.
Sushant Singh Rajput‘s family, who live in Patna, have accused her of abetment to suicide, alleging that she cheated him financially and mentally harassed him.
The First Information Report (FIR) also names six others including her family members. A four-member team of Patna Police has already left for Mumbai to probe the case.
According to sources, Rhea Chakraborty, who was reportedly Sushant’s girlfriend, used his credit cards on a Europe tour, sacked one of his bodyguards and even has stakes in the late Bollywood actor’s company.
This is the first time the family have gone public with their accusations and sources close to them say they deliberated whether to wait for the investigation by Mumbai Police.
Rhea has kept silent about her relationship with Sushant and has been away from the limelight since his death. Remembering him on his one month death anniversary, Rhea changed her WhatsApp picture which surfaced on the internet, according to DNA.
The photo shows the actress looking into the camera as Sushant flashed a broad smile looking at her face. The duo looks cute and very happy in the selfie.
Otherwise active Rhea Chakraborty had not shared anything on social media since June 14, 2020, the day of Sushant’s death. She penned down a long note for the late actor on Tuesday and said that she will keep him alive in her heart.
She wrote. “Still struggling to face my emotions.. an irreparable numbness in my heart. You are the one who made me believe in love, the power of it. You taught me how a simple mathematical equation can decipher the meaning of life and I promise you that I learnt from you every day. I will never come to terms with you not being here anymore. I know you’re in a much more peaceful place now. The moon, the stars, the galaxies would’ve welcomed “the greatest physicist “with open arms. Full of empathy and joy, you could lighten up a shooting star – now, you are one. I will wait for you my shooting star and make a wish to bring you back to me.”
Further, she wrote, “You were everything a beautiful person could be, the greatest wonder that the world has seen . My words are incapable of expressing the love we have and I guess you truly meant it when you said it is beyond both of us. You loved everything with an open heart, and now you’ve shown me that our love is indeed exponential. Be in peace Sushi. 30 days of losing you but a lifetime of loving you…. Eternally connected To infinity and beyond.”
Talking about the interrogation, her statement was recorded by Mumbai Police on 18 June, 2020. Police interrogated her for nine hours. A police official had told PTI, “She was at the police station for almost nine hours. The investigating officers questioned her about various angles, including Rajput’s professional life. In her statement, Chakraborty told the police that Rajput had ended his contract with Yash Raj Films and also asked her to stop working with the production house. It was an old incident, Chakraborty told the police.”
Post Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, the duo’s last picture together when they were spotted outside their gym in Mumbai on March 11 had gone viral. In the picture, Sushant is seen wearing a blue printed T-shirt and black shorts, while Rhea is seen in a galaxy print yoga shorts and a grey top. Sushant and Rhea used to often workout together. They were snapped outside their gym several times.
While speaking to media, Patna Central Zone IG Sanjay Singh confirmed, “The FIR has been registered against Rhea Chakraborty under various sections, including abetment of suicide, on the complaint filed by Sushant Singh Rajput’s father.”
The FIR was filed on Sunday in Rajendra Nagar police station in Patna. Rhea and five other individuals have been booked under IPC Section 306 (Abetment of suicide), Sec 341 (Punishment for wrongful restraint), Sec 342 (Punishment for wrongful confinement), Sec 380 (Theft in dwelling house), Sec 406 (Punishment for criminal breach of trust), and Sec 420 (Cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property).
Earlier, Rhea Chakraborty had requested Home Minister Amit Shah for a CBI inquiry into Sushant’s untimely demise. “Respected @amitshahofficial sir , I’m sushants Singh Rajputs girlfriend Rhea chakraborty, it is now over a month since his sudden demise . I have complete faith in the government , however in the interest of justice , I request you with folded hands to initiate a CBI enquiry into this matter . I only want to understand what pressures prompted Sushant to take this step.”
Yesterday filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt had recorded his statement with the Mumbai police while today, the CEO of Dharma productions was snapped at the Amboli police station. Apoorva Mehta heads Karan Johar’s production house and was called in by the police to record his statement.
Karan Johar is also reportedly likely to be called in by the Mumbai police to record his statement in the case related to the investigation of Sushant Singh Rajput’s death. Kangan Ranaut, who has expressed her willingness to co-operate during the investigation, will also be recording her statement soon.
