Benedict Cumberbatch To Star In New Netflix Series, The 39 Steps

Benedict Cumberbatch will be starring in Netflix’s upcoming series, The 39 Steps. The streaming service has officially ordered the limited series. It will be based on John Buchan’s 1915 novel with the same name.

The series is written by Mark L. Smith and with Patrick Melrose director Edward Berger at the helm. This will mark as the first time Benedict and Edward are teaming up for a project ever since their 2018 Sky Atlantic show. The Marvel superhero will play Richard Hannay, who is an ordinary man who winds up in a conspiracy to reset the world order. He is forced to go on the run.

According to Variety, the series will have at least six hours and be produced by Anonymous Content, SunnyMarch, and Chapter One Pictures. SunnyMarch is the Uk-based film and TV production company that is founded by the actor himself, along with Adam Ackland and Adam Selves.

Benedict can be seen along with Jesse Plemons and his on-screen fiancé, Kirsten Dunst in The Power Of the Dog. The film, which will be released on Netflix, is helmed by New Zealander filmmaker Jane Campion.

Benedict and Jesse will be playing brothers who will run a ranch in Montana. However, after Jesse’s character marries a local widow secretly, his brother launches a cruel campaign to ruin her life. This movie will be an adaptation of the 1967 novel with the same name by Thomas Savage.
