Bad Bunny Talks New “Dark” Album & How It Helped His Mental Health

Bad Bunny released his new album, El Ultimo Tour del Mundo, which explores his darkest places. The singer opened up about his album to explain how it is a part of him and different from the music he usually makes.

He shared that the album is more feeling, sadness, and heartbroken. Which makes it different from his previous albums THLQMDLG and Las que no iban a salir, both released in February and May respectively. “It’s dark,” Bad Bunny says of El Último Tour del Mundo. “But with feeling. I love it. It’s like, a part of me.” 

The singer shares this reveals a different side of him and it is also a different view of the world. The name of the album itself symbolizes how things have changed since the pandemic. He said that it is not the last world tour but, in fact, the last tour of the world from any artist. The singer shared that after this tour, the world ends.

“Looking at the world, everyone looks like The Walking Dead,” the GRAMMY-nominated artist shares, revealing that music has served as his outlet amid quarantine. “100% [this album helped my mental health]. This is like, a relief for me because I was quarantined … the only thing that I had was the music, and so eso me mantuvo vivo como digo yo.” 

Bad Bunny also recalled how J Balvin has supported him and helped him through “somethings” about his mental health. He also shared that his girlfriend, Gabriela Berlingeri, is a perfect quarantine partner. The artist says he appreciates the support of his fans.

“I love all my fans. Thank you for supporting me, for believing in my music.”

He is currently battling COVID-19 after he revealed testing positive last week. The rapper reveals that the situation has taught him to know about what’s important. He shared the new thing he learned is to be more loveable to people.

“Sometimes you have people and you don’t say that you love them. So that is [one] thing that I learned,” he expresses, adding that he’s also thankful for his health. “I’m healthy. You know, I have COVID right now, but I am still healthy. I feel good.”

The rapper has a lot to look forward to as he recently got his role in Narcos: Mexico. He is also starring in American Sole, however, the thing that most excites him is meeting his fans. The musician revealed his plans for 2021 as he shared his biggest dream is to have a concert with a lot of people.

Bad Bunny said that is the only thing he wants and points out that he realizes that it is hard but affirms that is his goal. He shared how much he loves all his fans and thanked them for supporting him and for believing in his music. “I love all my fans,” he says. “Thank you for supporting me, for believing in my music, and here we go again — another album.” 

The rapper will make his acting debut in season three of the highly-anticipated series, Narcos. He has been officially cast in the Netflix series and will be playing Arturo.

The rapper will step into the role of Arturo “Kitty” Paez, who will be one of the members of Ramon Arellano Felix’s gang called Narco Juniors. In the series, the gang consists of rich, well-connected kids from upper society who have jumbled their lives for money, drugs, and violence.

Narcos: Mexico Has Some Major Changes

The news comes with other casting updates like Luis Gerardo Mendez being roped in to play Victor Tapia. Alberto Guerra will be playing the role of Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada and Luisa Rubino will be playing Andrea Nunez.

Netflix had confirmed the third installment of the series, Narcos: Mexico in October. They also confirmed major changes in the next season which included Diego Luna’s return as Felix Gallard. The changes also included the comeback of Scoot McNairy, José Maria Yazpik, Alberto Ammann, Alfonso Dosal, Mayra Hermosillo, Matt Letscher, Manuel Masalva, Alejandro Edda, and Gorka Lasaosa.

The description of the third season of Narcos reads as follows: “Set in the ’90s, when the globalization of the drug business ignites, season three examines the war that breaks out after Felix’s empire splinters. As newly independent cartels struggle to survive political upheaval and escalating violence, a new generation of Mexican kingpins emerge. But in this war, truth is the first casualty—and every arrest, murder, and take-down only pushes real victory further away.” 

Bad Bunny had opened up about shattering the machismo Latinx stereotype through his fashion, songs, and music videos. He had shared how good it feels because he is using his impact on something positive. The Puerto Rican rapper had revealed it feels good to lead people just by the way he lives or by being himself.

He said, To lead so many people just by the way I live, by being myself; to motivate people to be free and liberated to be themselves, it feels good. Any time you can make someone feel good, it’s the best thing. It’s infectious, and that’s how you end up feeling good yourself.”
