According to David Harbour, Stranger Things Season 4 will reveal a major Hopper secret

Season 4 will disclose a significant fact regarding Hopper’s past, according to Stranger Things star David Harbour. Several production delays have pushed back the highly anticipated fourth episode in Netflix’s 1980s sci-fi/horror series over the previous two years.

While no official release date has been set, the new season is unlikely to be released before the end of 2021. Stranger Things season 4 will, however, provide some of the show’s biggest stories and horrors yet when it premieres on Netflix.

Hopper has been a fan favourite character since the first season of Stranger Things. His past has been revealed piece by piece over time. After his daughter, Sara, was diagnosed with cancer as a kid and died, Hopper’s marriage fell apart.

Hopper lives a mainly isolated and lonely existence up until the events of the first season, drinking to cope with his loss and depression while trying to keep the Hawkins Police Department in order. Other details about his life prior to the start of the series have been scarce.

Season 4

According to Harbour, Stranger Things season 4 will have more major Hopper revelations, including one major truth that he and the show’s writers have been keeping hidden for years. Harbour hinted the potential developments for Hopper’s character in a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight.

“We’re going to expose a lot of backstory elements that we’ve only hinted at in boxes in his attic,” the star teased, referring to certain mysterious scenes from previous seasons.

Stranger Things season 4 could show a lot more about Hopper than just his military past. Apart from his time as a father, his teenage past with Joyce Byers, and the events of the play, most of his life goes unmentioned. The mystical and sci-fi parts of the show entirely blindside Hopper, thus the secret is unlikely to have anything to do with the Upside Down or Hawkins Lab. The answer will not be known until the fourth season of Stranger Things is released on Netflix.
