Aamir Khan And Kiran Rao To Split After 15 Years Of Married Life

In what comes as an unexpected shock to the fans, actor cool of Bollywood Aamir Khan and his other-half producer Kiran Rao announced their divorce after 15 years of marriage. In a joint statement, they have put forward the clarification to various gossips.

In a statement, it was stated that they will continue their working relationship at the Paani Foundation. They will also be co-parents to their son, Azad Rao Khan, reported a leading tabloid The Hindustan Times.

What Did They Say?

The statement read, “For the past 15 years we have shared a life of happiness, joy and laughter, and our relationship has grown only with trust, respect and love. Now we want to start a new chapter in our lives – not as husband and wife, but as co-parents and family with each other ”.

Thee two, in their statement, also mentioned clearly that they had been separated ‘sometime back in the past’.

“We began a planned separation some time ago, and now feel comfortable to formalise this arrangement, of living separately yet sharing our lives the way an extended family does. We remain devoted parents to our son Azad, who we will nurture and raise together”, the statement said.

“We are very grateful to our families and friends for their constant support and understanding of this evolution in our relationship, and without them we would not have been so assured and secure in taking this step. We request our well wishers for good wishes and blessings, and hope that – like us – you will see this divorce not as an end, but as the start of a new journey,” the statement concluded.

Aamir Khan And Kran Rao’s Love Life

Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao had met for the first time during a movie shoot of Lagaan. At the time, Rao was the assistant director of the movie and Aamir was the male lead. The film went to become one of the most popular movies of that time.

On December 28, 2005, they tied the knot. They welcomed their first son Azad in 2011.

It can be said that Aamir was previously married to Reena Dutta but divorced her after 16 years of marriage in 2002. He has a daughter Ira and a son Junaid in his first marriage to Reena.
