Sebastian Stan Will Keep Playing Winter Soldier As Long As Marvel Wants
Sebastian Stan who portrays fan-favourite character Bucky Barnes aka The Winter Soldier in the MCU has opened up about his future in the MCU. Recently, he was alongside Anthony Mackie in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. The web series debuted on Disney+ earlier this year.
However, that did not stop Sebastian from getting all the attention after pictures of him released in the costume as Motley Crue drummer, Tommy Lee. The actor is portraying the character in the upcoming drama miniseries, Pam & Tommy.
Sebastian first portrayed the role of James Buchanan “Bucky” Barnes aka The Winter Soldier back in 2011. He was first seen in Captain America: The First Avenger which was the first movie of the Captain America franchise. The actor continued to play the iconic character of Bucky in seven other MCU movies.
Bucky was Captain America’s best friend who was brainwashed into turning an assassin for HYDRA. However, his character overcame all of that became best friends with the Cap again. Ever since then, Bucky has been an important part of the Infinity Saga of the MCU. The existence of the character has even caused a lot of tension amongst the Avengers including the fallout between Captain America and Iron Man.
Many actors have departed from their roles in the MCU after Endgame, like Captain America and Iron Man. Sebastian, however, among others continues to portray the character throughout The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. This series takes place chronologically after the events of Endgame.

Stan Says He Grows Along With The Character
In an interview, Sebastian revealed that he will keep playing Bucky Barnes as long as Marvel will have him. He joked that his ageing might complicate things a little but he is absolutely open to the idea of being the Winter Soldier as long as he can. The actor said, “Again, it’s like, no idea, man. It’s not up to me. I don’t make these decisions. As long as they’ll keep calling, I’m there. I don’t know. I get old, too. Like everyone in the world, I AGE! So I don’t know what that means. Maybe it doesn’t mean anything! I have no idea. I’m just going for the ride.”
Sebastian further discussed his experience throughout portraying the character for all these years. He explained it is like having a friend or brother that you see all the time. The actor talked about how his growth goes hand-in-hand with the character’s growth.
He said, “May I be so lucky. It’s really quite wild, it really is. A lot of people on TV, there are shows that have gone on for so many seasons, Friends, I mean, there’s a lot of where…you get to go and play a character for such a long period of time. It’s like gaining a family member. You gain, like, a brother or something in this case for me. You get to see this character again and again, and then you’re always growing up, and they’re sort of growing up with you in a weird way.”
Recently, Sebastian has everyone shocked after posting the first look of him as Tommy Lee. Pam & Tommy is set to premiere on Hulu and will go into detail about the relationship between Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee. The series will see the couple from their wedding through the birth of their two kids, and end with the physical altercation between the two that put Tommy in jail.
Lily James is portraying the character of Pamela while Seth Rogen will play Rand Gauthier alongside other big names. Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes has been a fan-favourite character for a long time. Fans will be upset if he leaves which he has to eventually. However, it is good to know that Sebastian is sticking around as long as Marvel needs him to.
