Actor Dalip Tahil’s son Dhruv has been arrested on a drug charge by Mumbai police.

Earlier Dalip had said that Kangana Ranaut should be drug tested for her insane comments against the Bollywood industry’s drug problem.

The Anti Narcotics Cell of the Mumbai police criminal branch on Wednesday arrested Dhruv Tahil, the son of Bollywood actor Dalip Tahil, on suspicion of possession of drugs, an official said.

The Background

Dhruv Tahil was arrested in the ANC’s Bandra wing after his WhatsApp conversation with a drug dealer surfaced during an investigation, a police official said.

The ANC had earlier arrested drug dealer Muzammil Abdul Rahman Shaikh for having 35 grams of Mephedrone and booked him under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

During the investigation, it emerged that Dhurv had been in contact with Sheikh since 2019.

WhatsApp Chats

WhatsApp conversations allegedly revealed that Dhruv had approached the peddler for drug possession, the official said. It is also alleged that he had transferred to the Sheikh’s bank account a sum of money at least six times. An ANC team led by Deputy Commissioner of Police Datta Nalawade was conducting further probe, the official added.

Dalip had just recently introduced his son to Instagram by a post. Sharing his photo, he had written, “My son Dhruv aspires to be an actor.” The post received good congratulations from colleagues such as Nifa Ali, who called him ‘handsome’.

Bollywood Industry And The Drug Drama

Last year, Dalip responded to growing criticism of the Bollywood drug problem and Kangana Ranaut’s similar comments.

Responding to the chaos caused by the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, he had told the Hindustan Times, “It’s a malaise that has engulfed our lives. So you can’t just point fingers at Bollywood. What started to get justice for the tragic death of an actor is turning into a circus.”

“Before she (Kangana) passes personal judgement on her colleagues, she should also get tested herself. There’s much more happening in big businesses, media, where people are being manipulated, exploited and even dispensed off. Let’s talk about that as well?,” he had said.
