Comic Star Paul Ritter Passes Away Due To Brain Tumor Aged 54

Actor Paul Ritter, who played the role of father Martin Goodman in the popular comedy series on Channel 4 titled Friday Night Dinner has died after a brain tumor at the age of 54.

He also starred in the Sky series Chernobyl, and he also played the role of Eldred Worple in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, and appeared in James Bond’s film Quantum of Solace.

The plot of Friday Nigher Dinner was: Adam and Jonny Goodman, two siblings belonging to an eccentric family, join their parents for a peaceful dinner every Friday night. However, despite great care, things always turn chaotic.

Peaceful Death

Some of his TV credits include Belgravia, Vera and Wolf Hall.

His lawyer said on Tuesday: “It is with great sadness that we can confirm that Paul Ritter passed away last night.”

They said he died peacefully at home with his wife Polly and his sons Frank and Noah next to him.

Intelligent, Kind And Funny

The statement added that he was “a very talented actor who played a lot of roles on stage and on screen with exceptional and honed skill”, describing him as “a very intelligent, kind and very funny person.”

“We will miss him very much,” he said.

Paul Ritter was an English stage and screen actor. He was best known for his roles in films including Quantum of Solace, Son of Rambow, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, and The Eagle, as well as television programmes including Friday Night Dinner, Vera, The Hollow Crown, The Last Kingdom and Chernobyl.

Friday Night Dinner writer Robert Popper tweeted his tribute, saying: “Devastated at this terribly sad news. Paul was a lovely, wonderful human being. Kind, funny, super caring and the greatest actor I ever worked with x”
