Kangana Ranaut Trolled After She Compares Herself To Meryl Streep And Gal Gadot

Actor Kangana Ranaut on Twitter on Tuesday followed up on her comments earlier this month, during an interview where she was compared to Tom Cruise. On Tuesday Kangana said she had never compared herself to Cruise on her own, but would repeat what the stunt coordinator who’d worked with both her and Cruise had said.

Kangana was accused of tweeting that she was more talented than three-time Oscar winner Meryl Streep. Afterwards, she made a comparison between herself and Marlon Brando, then quoted stunt coordinator Nick Powell as saying that ‘she pulled off smoother stunts than Tom Cruise’.

‘Sending A Hug And Some Burnol’

On Tuesday, Kangana responded to a news story about memes that her comments had spawned. She wrote, “I never claimed, Nick Powell one of the biggest stunt directors in the world did …. sending a hug and some burnol.”

In her original tweet, Kangana had shared a news story about Nick. She had written, “Ha ha ha bahut pareshaan hain librus, yeh Dekho (liberals are confused) renowned action director of Brave heart and many legendary Hollywood action films said I am better than Tom Cruise when it comes to action … Hahahahaha bechare librus aur tadpo (read this and weep).”

The story quoted Nick Powell, who worked with Kangana at Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi, as saying, “I worked with actors like Russell Crowe, Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt, but she gave me the unique experience in which an actress was leading the pack. There were times when she pulled off smoother stunts than Tom Cruise.”

Kangana’s Open Challenge

Kangana challenged people to prove her wrong in comparing herself to the likes of Meryl Streep and Gal Gadot. To defend her claims, she wrote in the following tweet, “Pls prove my claims wrong or illogical, will accept my statements as gloating disorder, if you can’t then you too have to accept, in this world of mediocre hyenas who will do anything to look through genuine talent Modesty is not good not at the cost of HONESTY. Snatch your due.”

Many members of the film industry, including Ishaan Khatter, Taapsee Pannu and Richa Chadha have expressed positive or negative views of Kangana’s statements.
