Ms. Marvel Show Confirmed For 2021, Full Cast Announced
Marvel has confirmed the release date of Ms. Marvel on Disney+. They have also announced the entire cast as it features the debut of Kamala Khan in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
As soon as it was announced at D23 back in 2019, it became one of the most highly anticipated Phase 4 offerings. Back when it was originally announced, it was expected to arrive by 2022. The streaming service has already been scheduled for four MCU shows which will be launched in 2021.
However, the details of the show have still been kept under wraps even after announcing it. Iman Vellani, the newcomer was cast as Kamala Khan before the production began this fall. But Marvel hadn’t even confirmed that and it wasn’t until Disney’s Investor Day 2020 that Kevin Feige made it official.
The first look of Ms. Marvel was also shared on the day even if that did not reveal much. However, they have confirmed a lot more details than before. In Marvel.com, the write up includes the Ms. Marvel footage and the website confirmed that the show will be releasing in 2021 on Disney+.
The article also revealed the entire cast but kept the roles of each actor under wraps. Ms. Marvel features Aramis Knight, Saagar Shaikh, Rish Shah, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Matt Lintz, Yasmeen Fletcher, Laith Naki, Azher Usman, Travina Springer, and Nimra Bucha.
The late-2021 release has confirmed one more show on the long list of Marvel shows which will be releasing next year. The studio is reportedly releasing four new movies in theaters throughout the year. The Falcon and The Winter Soldier as well as WandaVision are set to release early next year after the delay due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The Cast of Ms. Marvel
Meanwhile, Loki and Marvel’s What If..? and Hawkeye remains on track as they will also be released in 2021 as it was originally announced. However, with Ms. Marvel releasing next year as well, it would be a total of six MCU shows released. And all of it will be launching on Disney+ next year.
The announcement of the cast comes after the #FixMsMarvel trend online by fans. This was started due to the controversial casting decision and the rumored casting of Zenobia Shroff and Yasmeen Fletcher playing Muslim characters. Matt Lintz also rumored to be cast, being a Trump supporter, did not go well with Marvel fans.
Andrew Brodeur was also rumored to be a part of the cast despite his multiple sexual harassment allegations. Zenobia, Yasmeen, and Matt are still a part of the list, so naturally, it will still be a part of the fight among fans. Shroff is rumored to be playing Kamala’s mother, while Yasmeen is rumored to play her friend.
Matt is possibly portraying the character’s best friend, Bruno Carrelli. However, Andrew is not a part of the list which might mean he was never a part of the cast or that the studio decided to replace him.
Controversies aside, it remains to be seen which cast members play which characters from the comics. Rish Shah teased on social media that he is an Inhuman named Kamran. Meanwhile, Aramis Knight is rumored to be executing a vigilante named Red Dagger. It still isn’t understood who the villain of Ms. Marvel will be, but the person liable for causing trouble for Kamala could be part of this cast list.
