With the Resident Evil trailer, Tom Hopper confused Umbrella Academy fans
When Tom Hopper initially shared a trailer for Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, he confused his The Umbrella Academy fans.
Hopper is an English actor best known for his role in the Netflix original series Umbrella Academy as Luther Hargreaves.
Prior to his starring role in Umbrella Academy, he appeared in a number of notable television shows, including Merlin, Doctor Who, and Game of Thrones. He recently starred in The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard starring Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson, as well as in the recently released Resident Evil film.

For Umbrella Academy season 3, which is planned to premiere in 2022, Hopper will reprise his role as Hargreeves. While he continues to rise through Hollywood’s ranks, his portrayal in Umbrella Academy is one of his most beloved parts.
Luther leads the rest of the group with an older brother mentality and steel muscles as the oldest, number one super-powered Hargreeves. He is, nevertheless, a gentle, shy, hopeless romantic who seeks to please everyone under that tough exterior. On Instagram, Hopper has over a million followers, including many Umbrella Academy fans who are eagerly awaiting news about the next season.
According to EW, Hopper admitted that his Resident Evil trailer originally confused his fans, who mistaken it for an update on the next season of Umbrella Academy. The confusion arose from the fact that in Resident Evil, there is a villainous organization known as the Umbrella Corp, which is represented by an umbrella logo. As a tribute to the Umbrella Corp., Hopper used #umbrella in his post while sharing the trailer. As a result, some people mistook the Resident Evil trailer for the second season of Umbrella Academy.
Take a look at what he has to say:
Everyone saw the #Umbrella on the [hash]tag. Everyone was like, ‘Ooh! It’s for the new season of the show!’ I get it. If you have no idea about Resident Evil and you were an Umbrella Academy fan, it would be very confusing.
While the teaser generated some confusion at first, it is clear that Resident Evil and Umbrella Academy have little in common other than umbrella references.
Albert Wesker, played by Hopper, is a double spy who strives to survive a zombie outbreak in Raccoon City with a gang of other survivors.
The film is based on a Capcom video game of the same name. While the Umbrella Academy is known for apocalypses, alien life, and talking goldfish, a zombie epidemic is a departure from their normal fare. While the mix-up is amusing, it’s understandable in the world of digital sleuthing and viewers who just want to know what’s going on with their favorite show.
