Tom Holland Had 3 Day Break Between Uncharted & Spider-Man: No Way Home
Tom Holland says that there was just a three-day gap between filming Uncharted and Spider-Man: No Way Home. No Way Home is one of the most anticipated films of the year, since it concludes the Homecoming trilogy and; possibly, Holland’s tenure as Spider-Man. The second Spider-Man: No Way Home teaser was recently published; its enormous popularity indicates how much fans adore Holland’s portrayal of the web-slinging superhero.
Of course, No Way Home isn’t Holland’s only highly awaited picture; Uncharted is set to hit theatres in February of next year. Holland plays Nathan Drake, a treasure seeker and adventurer, in the film. Mark Wahlberg, Sophia Taylor Ali, and Tati Gabrielle star in the action-adventure film; which is based on the successful video game franchise of the same name. If the first Uncharted film is a success, an Uncharted sequel is very sure in the works.
Holland says in a new GQ story that he only got three days off between filming the two enormous productions. He wrapped Uncharted in Berlin and was in Atlanta three days later filming No Way Home. The brief gap was made worse by the fact that Uncharted was a physically taxing shoot; and by the end of it, Holland had suffered tendinitis.
While Spider-Man’s mask allowed for more CGI in No Way Home; Holland explains that in Uncharted, he was frequently doing numerous stunts personally. Check out the rest of Holland’s reply below:
“I never realized how lucky I am that Spider-Man wears a mask, because when he’s bouncing around and flying from buildings, that’s all CG. In Uncharted it’s just me in a henley and cargo pants. That film absolutely broke me.”
Tom Holland Is Long Overdue For A Break
Holland’s portrayal of Spider-Man has made him one of the most in-demand and popular performers in the world; and the gap between Uncharted and Spider-Man is likely representative of the last few years of his life. His role in Captain America: Civil War and his first standalone Spider-Man film, Homecoming; catapulted the British actor to stardom, and he’s remained in the spotlight ever since.
Thanks to his work in the MCU and other films like The Devil All The Time and Cherry. Given Holland’s track record and dedication to his art; it’s unlikely that people will notice that he just had a three-day break from acting when the new Spider-Man movie premieres.
Even if it’s only for a few weeks, it sounds like Holland is overdue for a break. He never seems to slow down between press tours for No Way Home; filming new projects, and the impending press tour for Uncharted. It’s not uncommon for major actors in action franchises to have injuries on set and be battered and bruised while filming; but jumping between physically demanding projects as quickly as Holland did is unsustainable.
When Spider-Man: No Way Home hits theatres on December 17; audiences will be treated to plenty of Holland action; followed by Uncharted on February 11 of the following year.
