Patty Jenkins revealed more information about her war with Warner Bros over Wonder Woman. Meanwhile, Selena Gomez called out social media platforms as she felt that these platforms have played a role in the Capitol Riots that happened earlier. She shared that people with hate in their hearts were allowed to use social media when it is supposed to bring people together and enable people to build community.

We had Kim Kardashian and Kanye West trying to save their marriage earlier this year. Insiders said the reality star was doing everything possible to save her marriage. Chris Pratt accidentally revealed what we did assume from the events of Avengers: Endgame. He sat down with Tom Holland and revealed he was part of the next Thor movie, which is, Thor: Love and Thunder. Meanwhile, Jeffree Star shut down all the crazy rumours about him and Kanye West hooking up amid the reports of his turbulent marriage with Kim Kardashian coming to an end.

We had Lady Gaga making a strong statement about impeaching then-President Donald Trump after the Capitol riots. Meanwhile, the internet was divided by the response of Avengers star, Chris Evans regarding the Capitol riots. The actor said he is speechless and shredded light on how things will have been if the people rioting had not been white. He added that a lot of people enabled this which left some users confused while the others called on Captain America to save America.

We saw TikTokers like Charli D’Amelio and Dixie D’Amelio being slammed for their trip to the Bahamas amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The internet was not happy as they blamed them for enjoying while millions were suffering. Selena Gomez had launched the Stay Vulnerable collection which comes under her highly successful brand, Rare Beauty. We also saw rumours about Travis Barker and Kourtney Kardashian as people speculated if the duo were a couple.

The Marvel boss Kevin Feige finally broke his silence regarding the rumours of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s involvement in the upcoming Tom Holland’s Spider-Man movie. In typical Marvel fashion, he did not confirm nor deny the rumours as he said the speculations can sometimes be so off the mark but sometimes it is to the point. Kevin Hart, on the other hand, signed a massive four-movies deal with Netflix.

We received shocking news about the fan-favourite movie franchises like Netflix’s To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before and The Kissing Booth both ending this year with their third and final instalments. There were developments reported in the high profile case of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard where the NYPD was involved to prove some of the claims as true or false. Comedian Rebel Wilson revealed that she was kidnapped and held at gunpoint while on vacation.

Justin Hartley and Chrishell Stause’ divorce was finalized in January. There were reports of how Jennifer Lopez wanted to drop Armie Hammer from her upcoming movie because of the allegations against him. We spotted Real Housewives star Leilani Dowding shopping at Tesco without a mask. Meanwhile, Chrissy Teigen was defending herself from fans who according to her misinterpreted her tweet about her new hobby, horseback riding.

We saw Kristen Stewart’s first-ever look at her new role as Princess Diana in Spencer. Katherine Heigl revealed if she would ever return to Grey’s Anatomy and her answer was yes. We lost precious lives like Oscar-winning actress Cloris Leachman at the age of 94 and model Cicely Tyson.

Riverdale star Madelaine Petsch revealed that her mental health was at an all-time low after her breakup with her boyfriend. Dixie D’Amelio revealed the real reason for leaving college early while Ashley Tisdale opened up about the harsh criticism she received after getting a nose job. Bollywood

The year 2021 kicked off with Tiger Shroff, the son of Bollywood veteran Jackie Shroff, releasing his new song titled ‘Casanova’. The young star seemed to be more confident than ever in his singing career. Tiger Shroff, sharing a post about his new song wrote Tiger wrote, “Excited to share the first look of my second single that I’ve sung and it’s your love and support that has given me the courage to do this again. Even Tiger’s rumored girlfriend Disha Patani expressed her excitement for Casanova and said that she ‘can’t wait’ for it.

In January 2021, we also saw some action scenes of Shahrukh Khan’s movie ‘Pathan’ going viral all over social media. The #Pathan was trending on Twitter after the action scenes of Pathan were leaked on the internet. The viral clips showed characters and stunt crews recording highly intense action scenes over cars and trucks. King Khan of Bollywood also made headlines when he virtually attended the famous Kolkata International Film Festival due to COVID.

Harry Styles & Phoebe Waller-Bridge set the internet on fire when they showed off their terrific dance moves in January 2021. Harry released his music video for his track from the album Fine Line. He released the video for Treat People With Kindness co-starring Fleabag’s Pheobe Waller-Bridge.

What a time that was! 2.) Adele Turns To Beyonce To Feature In Her New Music Album! The singer was teasing lots of new material for quite some time as she returned back to the recording studio in January.

Zayn Malik also sent his fans in a frenzy when he sang about a ‘wife’ in his new album. Well, it ain’t new anymore! Zayn had previously dropped hints about Gigi Hadid in his songs. Fans were convinced that he did that again in January 2021. The singer started dating his baby momma in 2015 and has raised a few eyebrows when it comes to his relationship status but well, not anymore as he has a baby with his baby momma now!

In January, as the US Presidential election was happening, the famous singer Rihanna took a diss at the outgoing US President Donald Trump and compared him to trash. She made a political statement and added a hashtag, #WediditJoe. The singer donned a black bodysuit with a navy t-shirt over that. The t-shirt read, “End racism by any means necessary.”

Television

For regular TV viewers, 2021 came as a shock! The famous talk show host and radio broadcaster Larry King passed away in January 2021 aged 87. His interviews are estimated to be 50,000 in his illustrious six-decade-long career. He was the host of the famous CNN Larry King Live which ran for more than two decades. We were also hearing speculations about Trump’s ‘American Carnage’ Documentary to be aired on television around the same time at the beginning of 2021.

And of course, what are news highlights without the mention of the deadly coronavirus and how it affected the plans of millions of people across the globe? In January 2021, Britain’s Got Talent revealed that it will be postponing the show until 2022 due to COVID. BGT said that performers like dance groups, choirs and orchestras wouldn’t be able to rehearse and audition safely.

The BGT audition shows typically involve hundreds of people congregating and then performing in front of a live audience and judges Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, David Walliams and Amanda Holden.

The month of January 2021 shocked the antique and art market when Botticelli’s ‘Young Man’ painting was sold for $92.2 Million. That sale of the painting marked the first major indicator of the state of the art market this year.

In January, we also saw the daughter of United States Vice President Kamal Harris get a modeling contract from IMG.
