Spencer teaser trailer stars Kristen Stewart as Princess Diana
Spencer’s first official teaser trailer has finally been released by the film’s creators. The film is directed by Pablo Larran and stars Kristen Stewart as Lady Diana Spencer, also known as Princess Diana.
NEON films released a teaser trailer for the highly anticipated biopic, which is due to premiere at the Venice Film Festival, on their social media account.
They also revealed that the film will be released in theatres on November 5th.
Princess Diana is shown in the film battling an eating disorder as her marriage to Prince Charles is on the rocks. The teaser does not delve deeply into the events or dialogue, instead transporting us to the late princess’s lonely, restless, and reflective life.
Spencer is set on a short Christmas weekend that Diana spent with her royal in-laws at a Sandringham estate for the unfamiliar. During that holiday, Diana makes the decision to divorce Prince Charles.
Spencer is written by Steven Knight, who has previously received critical acclaim for films and television series such as Dirty Pretty Things, Locke, and Peaky Blinders.
Aside from Kristen, the film also stars Jack Farthing as Prince Charles, as well as Timothy Spall, Sally Hawkins, and Sean Harris in key parts.
Have A Look At The Trailer
The trailer opens with pictures from Diana’s seemingly amazing childhood, including castles, gowns, and delightfully prepared meals. Stewart’s Lady Di doesn’t arrive until around halfway through the teaser, but when she does, it’s obvious that royal life isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.
The teaser is accompanied by a slowed-down, sad version of Lou Reed’s “Perfect Day,” sung by a solemn children’s choir, as Stewart stalks through the castle appearing equal parts glamorous and unhappy, in a move straight out of The Social Network handbook.
