The 72nd Emmy Award Nominations 2020 are here!
It’s time to celebrate the best of the 2019-2020 TV season. Former Saturday Night Live star, Leslie Jones, was virtually joined by Laverne Cox, Josh Gad and Tatiana Maslany to announce the nominations. This year’s Emmy’s will be re-imagined as a socially distanced event. Due to the production restrictions imposed in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Awards ceremonies like the Oscars and Golden Globes have pushed back their big nights. However, we’ll find out who wins the 2020 Emmy Awards when ABC broadcasts the ceremony live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. The ceremony is set to air in less than two months making it the first major entertainment award show of the Covid-era. The 72nd Emmy Awards will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, and is set to air on Sunday, Sept. 20 on ABC.
Netflix Breaks Records
Netflix broke the record for most nominations in a single year, scoring 160 in total, which is 42 nominations more than their 2019 haul. HBO who was the previous record-holder with 137 in 2019, has now followed second this year with 107 nominations. NBC finished third with 47 nominations.
