Rihanna sung a demo version of this popular Selena Gomez song

Fans are reportedly losing their mind over a leaked demo version of Selena Gomez’s song ‘Same Old Love’. However, this version is sung by Rihanna. An old leaked audio of the Wild Thoughts singer’s version has surfaced and left fans in a frenzy.

How it all happened

Funnily enough, the 2016 hit was originally written for Riri. In fact, Rihanna even teased fans by tweeting a lyric from the song back then. Possibly hinting at her version of the song .

However, the tweet seemed to be just a coincidence, as Charli XCX didn’t write the song until 2015 along with fellow writers, Mikkel Storleer Eriksen, Benny Blanco, Ross Golan, and Tor Erik Hermansen. Charli XCX not only revealed the track’s history with Rihanna, but also mentioned the reason why it didn’t work out. “I think at one point Rihanna was gonna sing it or something, but then I think the direction of her record (Anti) changed and it wasn’t right for her anymore” charlie stated in a post.

Charli added “Then I think Selena heard it and was into it, and she sang it, and it just suited her voice and her story so well. The song felt so emotional and real coming from her. I was really happy she cut it; it felt very powerful.”

What does the future have in store?

It is no secret that RiRi fans have been dying to listen to the singer’s new music, constantly demanding when Rihanna is going to drop her new album. There’s good news in store for her fans, because the singer recently revealed in an interview with British Vogue, that she was aggressively working on new music. 

“I don’t want all my albums to feel like themes. There are no rules, there’s no format, there’s nothing,” the singer shared. “There’s just good music and if I feel it, I’m putting it out. I feel like I have no boundaries. I’ve done everything,” Riri continued. “I’ve done all the hits, I’ve tried every genre. Now I’m just, I’m wide open. I can make anything that I want.”
