TechNetgear Unveils More Affordable Wi-Fi 7 Router Options with Orbi 770 and Nighthawk RS300
In a move to broaden the adoption of Wi-Fi 7 technology, Netgear has launched two new routers, the Orbi 770 mesh system and the Nighthawk RS300 standalone router. These routers are positioned as more affordable options compared to Netgear’s initial Wi-Fi 7 offerings, making the latest Wi-Fi standard more accessible to consumers.
Wi-Fi 7 promises significant improvements over the current Wi-Fi 6 standard, including faster speeds, lower latency, and increased capacity for handling multiple devices on a network. Netgear’s new routers boast features that capitalize on these advancements, such as wider 320MHz channels on the 6GHz band, which can potentially double the wireless bandwidth for devices that support Wi-Fi 7.
The Orbi 770 is a mesh Wi-Fi 7 system designed for larger homes. It utilizes a multi-unit configuration to deliver wider coverage and eliminate dead zones. The system comes equipped with 2.5Gbps Ethernet ports for high-speed wired connections and is priced at $999.99 for a three-pack.
For users in smaller spaces, the Nighthawk RS300 offers a more budget-friendly option at $329.99. This standalone router is capable of covering up to 2,500 square feet and supports Wi-Fi 7 features on the 6GHz band. It includes a variety of Ethernet ports for wired connectivity and a USB 3.0 port for additional functionality.
It’s important to note that to fully experience the benefits of Wi-Fi 7 with these routers, users will need devices compatible with the new standard. While Wi-Fi 7 is still under development and expected to be finalized later in 2024, these latest offerings from Netgear position the company at the forefront of Wi-Fi technology with a focus on affordability.
