Zendaya Admits That She Has Become A “Dune Nerd”
Zendaya revealed during a talk show that she has become a Dune nerd. The actress shared the information during her appearance on Late Night With Stephen Colbert.
The host asked her if she was excited to be working on Dune as fans such as himself are excited for the upcoming sci-fi film. It was directed by Denis Villeneuve. The actress revealed how she has become a Dune nerd for sure as she expressed her excitement.
Zendaya shared, “I have become a Dune nerd, for sure. I’m very, very excited. I feel so lucky, incredibly lucky to be a part of it. It’s such a beautiful thing and I’m geeking out like everyone else. I can’t wait to see it and I can’t wait for people to see it. It’s special.”
Stephen then questioned her about her favourite part of working on the film. She responded saying everybody on there is ‘lovely’. The actress said, “Timothee has become one of my closest friends and he’s lovely and so talented.” She was talking about her co-star, Timothee Chalamet.
The Malcolm & Marie actress shared her favourite part as she described it was when they would have dance parties in her room. She added that they would leave the door open and Timothee would come in with his speaker. The actress shared, “I think my favorite part was when we would have these dance parties in my room, where I would leave the door open, and Timothy would come in with his little speaker and everybody would start coming in and then we’d just start dancing.”
“There were some weird ideas that got bounced around”
The host then guessed that Javier Bardem would be the best dancer among the cast. Zendaya responded, “Listen, he peaked in and he was grooving. I was like, ”Okay, Javier”. He had the moves. I was very impressed. I was very impressed.”
The upcoming movie, Dune is an adaptation of the 1965 novel of the same name by Frank Herbert. The cast includes Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Dave Bautista, Stephen McKinley Henderson, David Dastmalchian, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, Stellan Skarsgard, Chang Chen, Charlotte Rampling and Jason Momoa.
The movie is scheduled to be released on October by Warner Bros. Pictures along with a month-long simultaneous release on the HBO streaming service. Zendaya promoted her recent Netflix film, Malcolm & Marie which also stars David Washington. The movie is directed by Sam Levinson who also created the hit drama series, Euphoria.
Euphoria gave Zendaya her first Emmy as she was honored for playing the role of Rue. The actress shared that she talked to Sam about staying creative amid the coronavirus pandemic. That is when he wondered if they could film something at her house.
She explained, “There were some weird ideas that got bounced around, one was a psychological thriller where I think I’m still on Disney Channel, which I might save for later. I thought it might be for fun when I’m 40,”
The actress shared that the crew of Malcolm & Marie also got a back-end financial deal with points on the movie. She explained that they all own this thing together which is really special. Malcolm & Marie will be released Friday on Netflix.
