What If…? Season 2 Will Explain How Gamora Got Her Armour

A.C. Bradley, the head writer of What If…? revealed that season 2 will explain how the Guardians of the Multiverse’s Gamora got her armour. Marvel Studios’ latest animated series on Disney+, What If…? is based on the comic book of the same name.

The series re-imagines classic MCU stories and characters because of the multiverse. It focused on embracing its overarching narrative in the finale episode. This episode saw the Watcher break his oath of non-interference to combat Infinity Ultron.

At the end of episode 8, the Watcher approached all the heroes starting with Doctor Strange Supreme for helping stop the end of an alternate version of Ultron. In the final episode, the Watcher brings in Guardians of the Multiverse including a shady Doctor Strange, Captain Carter, T’Challa aka Starlord, Erik Kilmonger and a version of Gamora.

Gamora was spotted with armour and wielding her surrogate father’s double-edged sword. She appears when the Watcher is choosing people to defend the multiverse and visits Nidavellir. We saw the unfamiliar universe where Gamora, Eitri and a space-savvy Tony Stark aka Iron Man destroy an empty Infinity Gauntlet.

The Watcher introduces her as the survivor of Sakaar and the killer of Thanos. The director, Bryan Andrews and the head writer, A.C. They revealed what fans can expect from season 2 as Bradley was asked about Gamora’s backstory. She responded that they originally had an episode planned before in the season that was a fun, light-hearted, living, breathing Tony Stark-centric episode with Gamora.

Will What If..? Events Have An Affect On The Films?

But because of the pandemic, one of the four animation houses was hit hard and the episode had to be pushed to Season 2. She revealed that fans will be surprised by how Gamora gets the armour. The head writer also revealed that season 2 will see the relationship with Tony because they are good friends in the bit we see. However, she concluded, “So it will be a fun universe to see, hopefully, next year, and I think you found the silver lining there. It is a promise of more stories to come.”

Bradley had previously spoken on how the series’ delayed episode is “pure comedy”. Her knowledge of how to destroy infinity stones make sense for the Watcher’s plan. It will be interesting to see that universe and how she managed to survive Sakaar. That was the planet where Grandmaster holds his Contest of Champions in Thor: Ragnarok.

Season 1 finale teased the return of one Guardian of the Multiverse and it remains to be seen; if The Watcher, Gamora, Doctor Strange, Supreme, Captain Carter; or any of the other players will be tied into the multiversal films like Spider-Man: No Way Home; Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The second season has been confirmed way back.
