Video of Kane Williamson taking a wicket by superb fielding : What a Catch!

New Zealand vs England, 1st Semi-Final (N), Abu Dhabi, Nov 10 2021, ICC Men’s T20 World Cup

Glenn Phillips (New Zealand): (About his injury at the boundary) It’s alright, got a few cuts and bruises on my hand, but I can bat alright. There was a metal thing on the other side, and as I dived over, my hand went straight into it. A little niggly, but it’s alright.I can’t do 100m as fast as I could, but I’m trying to get there.

We have to go there with a positive mindset, and keep up with the rate. We want to be able to finish it an over before the allotted overs, and that’s how we like to go about our business.

I’m not sure about the pitch, it’s hard to tell from square leg, but a few stopped and a few went through, so we have to assess it once we get out there and play accordingly.

Kane Williamson: “Busy period for us, and we’ve come through, giving in good performances. The two most experienced bowlers have bowled beautifully throughout the tournament, and after Lockie, Milne has come in and done well too. England has a lot of depth, that’s their strength, and we have the opportunity to play our own brand of cricket to make it to the final.”

Tim Southee: “It’s been a while since 2019, so we haven’t talked anything about it. It’s a different format for a start and a different group of guys. We are just excited to be here. You are into a tournament hoping to be here at the latter stages, hopefully we can continue the form we have shown in the previous weeks.

The experience of the guys, we were dealt with a blow early on with Lockie Ferguson ruled out. Having Adam Milne come in, hasn’t played lot of international cricket in recent years, but he’s had a good season in England playing in the Hundred and County.

It’s great to have some experience in the bowling unit. As a group, we have adapted to the conditions. All the three grounds have offered different challenges and we’ve been able to assess that.”

Jos Buttler: “(Key to success) Keeping things very simple. At the top of the order, you’ve probably got the best chance of scoring the most runs, try and take advantage of the powerplay and you’ve got most opportunity to face the balls. I felt in good touch, I have tried to keep things simple and play the situation.

It’s a huge blow – Jason’s a massive part of our team and a very intimidation guy to bowl at at the top of the order. We’ll miss him but it gives opportunity to other guys, we’ve got plenty of guys in our time who spend a lot of time of their career opening as well. So whoever gets that chance will be relishing that.

The consistency has been great, we’ve started very well in the powerplay whether it be Moeen Ali or Adil Rashid with spin and Chris Woakes sets the tone very well for us as well. We’ve managed to take early wickets, which in T20 cricket is a huge part of the game.”
