In a sensational start to the chase, Yash Jaiswal was going after every bowler, and the pitch revealed itself to be a batting beauty. Three sixes, six fours in just 19 balls. At the other end, Evin Lewis managed two sixes and two fours in 12 balls to give RR a 77-run opening stand, which ended in the sixth over.

Dube continues assault

After RR lose their openers, Shivam Dube is promoted to No. 4. The plan seems clear: captain Sanju Samson to bat through while Dube, Phillips and Miller hit at the other end. And this seems like a good pitch for power hitters such as Dube and Miller. RR reach 119 in 10 overs, needing 71 in the back 10.

Will they be thinking of net run rate now? Their net run rate is pretty poor as of now, but if they can win with three or four overs to spare, they could give themselves a push.

Yashasvi Jaiswal’s cricketing journey is an inspiration to many. Coming from a humble background, he waded through struggles to achieve his dreams. The Mumbai lad was in the news for making his entry into the Indian U-19 team for the Sri Lankan tour in August. Coming through the junior cricket ranks, Yashasvi has hit 49 centuries in the last five years, but he wasn’t doing that well for the national team.

In his first two matches, the youngster could muster paltry scores of 15 and 1, which saw him getting dropped from the side before a hammering 114 in the final helped him cement his place in the side. In the ACC U-19 Asia Cup, Yashasvi has started well by hitting his second ton against Nepal. Through a phenomenal U19 World Cup campaign in 2020, Yashasvi made a massive statement to everyone, that he had indeed arrived. Being picked for the Royals in the IPL was another boost and if he gets chances, the youngster will be keen to make his talent count.

Jaiswal’s senior career

Jaiswal made his first-class debut for Mumbai in the 2018–19 Ranji Trophy on 7 January 2019. He made his List A debut on 28 September 2019, for Mumbai in the 2019–20 Vijay Hazare Trophy. On 16 October 2019, he scored 203 runs off 154 balls in a Vijay Hazare Trophy match against Jharkhand and became the youngest double centurion in the history of List A cricket at 17 years, 292 days.

His knock included 17 fours and 12 sixes against a bowling attack consisting of Varun Aaron and Shahbaz Nadeem. He was one of the top five run-scorers at the 2019–20 Vijay Hazare Trophy, with 564 runs in 6 matches at an average of 112.80. He was named in the India B squad for the 2019–20 Deodhar Trophy.

In the 2020 IPL auction, he was bought by the Rajasthan Royals ahead of the 2020 Indian Premier League (IPL). He made his Twenty20 debut for the Rajasthan Royals in the 2020 IPL on 22 September 2020.
