Video of Harshal Patel’s Hat-trick for RCB

RCB vs MI, September 26, 2021

Royal Challengers Bangalore pacer Harshal Patel took a hat-trick against the defending champions Mumbai Indians on Sunday in the Indian Premier League 2021 clash in Dubai. The moment occurred in the 17th over of MI innings, who started off well in the 166-run chase, but then kept losing wickets at regular intervals.

Virat Kohli handed the ball to Harshal in the 17th over, and on the first ball itself, he dismissed Hardik Pandya. The MI allrounder flung his bat on a slow one, but didn’t connect the shot properly, and Kohli took an easy catch.

This is the first hat-trick of the season. Harshal also became the third RCB bowler to take a hat-trick in IPL, with Praveen Kumar and Samuel Badree being the first two to do so.

Harshal Patel talks his bowling performance

Speaking in the post-match presentation, Harshal Patel said,” I was thinking if the batters can’t pick my slower balls then the bowlers also will find it difficult to spot (referring to Chahar’s wicket that got him the hat-trick). I just bet on that. This is my sixth time being on a hat-trick and finally got one, so pretty happy.

He (Pollard) is somebody who can do damage if you bowl in his areas, we wanted to take him wide and then once you drag him wide you have the option to bluff him, that came off really well. The way Siraj started, he’s someone who sets the tempo for us and the way Maxi and Chahal bowled in the middle overs were absolutely brilliant. They were under pressure at the death and we executed really well.”

Patel equals another IPL record

Harshal Patel has been performing phenomenally this season. With today’ match against MI, he has total 8 scalps against the defending champions in just this one season. He is on his way to break Chahal’s record of most wickets struck by an uncapped player in a season.
