Royal Challengers Bangalore(RCB) vs Rajasthan Royals(RR) , September 30 2021, 7:30 PM IST

In the first phase, they chased down Rajasthan’s 177 with 21 balls to spare and without losing a wicket. The RCB openers came out with a positive intent probably in an attempt to repeat the feat as they scored 48 in the first five overs. Padikkal played one shot too many and fell to Mustafizur and Kohli followed him in the very next over, falling victim to Parag’s direct-hit.

Maxwell, coming on the back of a fifty, had a couple of close shaves early in his innings when he attempted the pull shot twice in two balls against Kartik Tyagi. While one evaded Jaiswal at deep square leg, the other one was acrobatically stopped by Mustafizur at fine leg. Post that, the all-rounder batted sensibly and was even happy to play second fiddle to Bharat. But once the wicketkeeper-batter fell, Maxwell significantly upped the ante. The Australian all-rounder smashed his fourth fifty of the season and RCB hunted down the target with 17 balls to spare.

Sanju Samson | Losing captain:

Speaking about the loss, the RR skipper said,”We got a really good start, our openers played really well, but we couldn’t capitalize on it. Think the middle-order needs some confidence, it has been a hard one week for us, we need to put up a good fight.

The wicket was a bit two paced, so the batters couldn’t time the ball properly, they kept mistiming it. I’m happy with the intent put in by the bowlers. We don’t have anything to lose and that gives a lot of freedom to go out and express ourselves. Funny things can happen in IPL, we need to keep believing till the last match we play.”

Virat Kohli | Winning Captain:

Delighted with the win,RCB skipper said,”We have come back strongly in two games back-to-back with the ball which is a great sign. In T20 cricket if you can hold nerve with the ball, it means you are heading in the right direction. We came back and dominated. 175 would have been competitive, it still was a very good wicket to bat on.  Through the middle overs, our bowling has been amazing.

With the bat as well, we have been getting good opening starts which gives a lot of balance to the team. That’s been the focus with Dev and myself – to get good starts. Everything is coming along nicely and people are making contributions at the right time. We were blown away completely in game one, we took it as a positive. You need to be up with the pace of the tournament. We are getting into the groove at the right stage of the tournament.”

Yuzi Chahal declared Player of the Match

Chahal, awarded Player of the match, revealed his bowling strategy, saying,”Two left-handers were batting so Virat planned to go with the medium-pacers. I have watched his (Lomror) videos, he’s very good on the leg-side. If he comes down, I will bowl wider.

With Livingstone, I bowled a little bit slower. In the first half of IPL, I didn’t get wickets in the first three-four matches. After the break, I backed myself. I bowled well in the SL series and I got my confidence back. I wanted to maintain that momentum here.”
