Veteran actor Jagdeep passes away, B-town celebs pay their condolences

Veteran Bollywood actor Jagdeep passed away at the age of 81 in his residence in Bandra on Wednesday evening!

The Bollywood film industry has lost another legend today as the veteran actor Jagdeep has passed away. You might recall him as Soorma Bhopali from the film Sholay. He was popular amongst several generations and has been known for his inspirational work.

Jagdeep Ji was 81 years old and was not keeping well for quite some time. He breathed his last on Wednesday at his residence in Bandra around 8:30 PM. His last rites will be performed at a cemetery in South Mumbai on Thursday morning.

The actor’s death has left the B-town celebs mourning. From Ranveer Singh to Abhishek Bachchan and Ayushmann Khurrana, the celebrities are paying their last tribute to Jagdeep Ji.

Ranveer posted an old picture of the late actor with folded hands emoji. Junior Bachchan tweeted “May you rest in peace Jagdeep sahab. Thank you for filling our lives with smiles.”

Ayushmann too shared his picture as he wrote, “RIP #Jagdeep sir! Your contribution to the industry will always be remembered. Thank you for the laughs. Thank you for the memories.”

Anil Kapoor recalled how he was fortunate enough to have had worked with the late actor. “Jagdeep Saab was one of the greatest actors of India…I was his huge fan & was lucky enough to have worked with him in Ek Baar Kaho & many more films…he was always extremely supportive & encouraging…sending my heartfelt condolences & prayers to my friend Javed & family…” his tweet reads.

Jagdeep’s real name was Syed Ishtiaq Ahmed Jafri. He had made his debut in B-town with the 1951 film Afsana. He has been a part of films like Purana Mandir and Andaz Apna Apna.
