Chakravarthy had impressed everyone in IPL 2020 with his magical bowling spells,pick of all the bowling spells being his five wicket haul against Delhi Capitals.You heard that right,five wicket haul in a T20,to be precise,his bowling figures were 5/16 that involved wickets of the best batsmen of Delhi Capitals.His season end performance was 17 wickets in just 13 matches,earning him a place in not only the fantasy teams of fans but also in the Indian T20 squad.

In a discussion with former West Indies captain Darren Sammy on ICC’s official website, Karthik said that Chakravarthy will earn lots of success at the T20 World Cup.”He has something special in him” was the statement of Dinesh Karthik,who was also the captain of Chakravarthy in the first few matches of IPL 2020.It must have been then that Karthik noticed that “something special” in Chakravarthy.Chakravarthy had made his IPL debut in 2018 itself but it wasn’t until the IPL 2020 season that his talent was truly justified in front of all the cricketing world.

Interesting fact to note is that Chakravarthy earned the tag of “mystery spinner” since his bowling action resembles a lot to the action of Sri Lankan spinner Ajanta Mendis.It is not only the bowling action that is common between these two cricketers.Chakravarthy’s various variations are strikingly similar to that of Ajanta Mendis,the Sri Lankan spinner who had broke quite many bowling records while he was actively playing for the national team.
