Travis Scott Slammed For Offering ‘Scam’ Therapy Sessions To Fans

Travis Scott has been chastised for allegedly offering Astroworld fans counselling sessions. Scott’s plan has been dubbed a “scam” when he announced a partnership with BetterHelp. Many people on social media wondered if he was paid for the collaboration.

Travis Scott volunteered to pay the funeral expenses of the eight victims of the terrible stampede in the aftermath of the horrific Astroworld performance. Scott just revealed that he has teamed up with BetterHelp; to offer free counselling to those who have been affected by the incident.

On Friday night, November 5, violence broke out at Travis Scott’s Astroworld music festival in Houston, Texas; killing at least eight people and injuring a number of others. On social media, video footage from the festival has gone viral; showing a surge of people smashing down a gate. People attending the festival are also seen dancing on ambulances in the videos.

Over a dozen lawsuits have been filed against Scott and Live Nation Entertainment in Harris County; as a result of the incident. According to the claims, despite several deaths, injuries, and fans pleading for the event to be halted; Scott continued to sing for more than 30 minutes.

In an attempt to prevent Scott from performing as a headliner at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in California next April; over 10,000 individuals have signed a petition. The family of 21-year-old Axel Acosta; who claims he had his “life squeezed out of him” and was then “trampled on like a piece of trash,”; is among those suing Scott and festival organisers.

Fans Slam Travis’ Label For Only Covering The Costs Of One-Month Rehabilitation

At least two criminal investigations into the fatal stampede are also ongoing. There was no “sponsorship or brand contract between BetterHelp and Travis Scott,” according to an explanatory website. Scott is not expected to get paid, and those who attend therapy are not expected to be automatically invoiced at the end of the month.

“Following the tragic event at Astroworld, Travis Scott’s team reached out to us with an initiative to cover the cost of therapy for those who were impacted. As a mission-driven organization, we are proud to help whenever we can. With over 20,000 therapists nationwide; we are uniquely qualified to meet the needs of large numbers of people; when tragedies like this occur. We have previously provided free support to those who were impacted by Hurricane Dorian, the El Paso shooting; the California Wildfires, the evacuations from Afghanistan; and other events in which mental health support was needed quickly on a large scale,” the page reads.

“BetterHelp and Travis together will cover the costs to provide a month of free therapy by licensed therapists so people in need can get professional help,” .the Buzzfeed CEO Alan Matas stated in an email. He further denied that BetterHelp profited by selling people’s data to advertisers or third companies; or that Scott was paid.

Scott’s record label, Cactus Jack, is said to be covering the costs of the one-month rehabilitation. Many people on the internet expressed dissatisfaction with Scott’s belief that a month of therapy is all that is required to heal the trauma.

Twitter Outraged With One Month Therapy To Fix Trauma

“Literally cannot fathom that Travis Scott thinks one month of therapy is all it takes to fix trauma lol i’ve been going to therapy since 2015 and i’m still fu***** insane,” one user wrote. “Travis Scott partnered with that fu***** therapy brand, a brand that SELLS YOUR INFORMATION TO FACEBOOK IF YOU SIGN UP.
