Thor 4’s Director Fuels Speculation For Idris Alba’s Return As Heimdall

The director of Thor 4, Taika Watiti took to his social media recently to post something which has sparked a lot of speculation. He has fueled rumors that Idris Elba might be returning to the MCU world.

Idris played the character of Heimdall who will be appearing in the upcoming movie, Thor: Love and Thunder. His character was brought in to portray the character from Thor in 2011. Since then, the actor has appeared many times in the Avengers franchise until his character’s death at the beginning of Avengers: Infinity War.

He has already worked with Taika in Thor: Ragnarok and he has been a part of the Infinity saga. However, Marvel has been called out previously for not using the character of Heimdall to his full potential. The Thor sub-franchise has only begun to make way into fans’ hearts.

However, the recent post by the director has sparked speculation that there must be more of Heimdall after all. It might be a possible hint or might be nothing. In the post, the pictures were from the actor’s visit to the New Zealand All Blacks rugby team.

Fans have taken this as a sign that Thor 4 is just around the corner as they speculate that the duo is hanging out because he is a part of the movie. However, the duo has worked together previously outside of MCU. They have worked together in James Gunn’s Warner Bros. and DC Films’ The Suicide Squad.

The actor is set to play the character of Bloodsport and Taika’s role is still not decided. There is also the possibility that both Taika and Idris might have become closer because of the time that they have spent together.

Chris Hemsworth Confirms If This is The End For Thor

Taika shooting for Thor: Love and Thunder in Australia and have been traveling a lot. However, coronavirus has made it more difficult for them to shoot as it has become a lot more work.

Current reports have also alleged that Thor: Love & Thunder will feature an Avengers-style cast. The cast which includes Tessa Thompson, Natalie Portman, and Chris Hemsworth will be reprising their roles. But there will also be a lot more stars featured in the movie.

Christian Bale will supposedly play the film’s villain. Meanwhile, Guardians of the Galaxy members are also set to appear, although only Star-Lord, played by Chris Pratt, is confirmed to be involved.

Natalie Portman is said to be wielding the iconic hammer in the next Thor movie, releasing in 2022. Fans were wondering what that means for Chris Hemsworth who gained global recognition with the character of Thor.

In an interview for Poland’s Elle Man back in September, Chris put the speculation to rest and confirmed that he would not be retiring from his iconic character after Thor: Love and Thunder.

When asked about retiring from his character to our delight, Chris seemed to think that it was a crazy thing to be thinking. He said he would not be retiring anytime soon. The actor said his character is far too young to be doing that. Chris said, “Thor is far too young for that. He’s only 1,500 years old. It’s definitely not a film that I say goodbye to this brand. At least I hope so.”

“If the version I read is the one we get running with, it’s going to be pretty insane.”

The upcoming movie Thor has already started production in Australia. Natalie has already touched down to start filming the next part, Thor: Love And Thunder. Chris opened up about the story and revealed it is one of the best stories he has read in years. He expects it to be a huge hit among fans and reveals how this would be Taika Waititi’s best direction.

The actor said, “If the version I read is the one we get running with, it’s going to be pretty insane.” The movie is the fourth installment of the Thor franchise. It would once again bring back Chris with Natalie and Tessa Thompson and it will also feature Christain Bale.

Natalie will be playing The Mighty Thor in the highly anticipated Marvel Studios movie. The Oscar-nominated actress revealed last year in Comic-Con that she will be reprising her role as Jane Foster in Thor: Love and Thunder.

Bringing back Heimdall isn’t out of the realm of probability at this point. It’s possible he somehow endured the Asgardian ship destruction in Infinity War. His cameo could also be through a flashback. Then again, with no confirmation from Marvel Studios, it’s okay to be excited about this possibility but it’s best not to get too invested in it.
