The Weeknd To Perform at 2021 Billboard Music Awards
The Weeknd will be performing at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards. This announcement on Monday that is May 10 begins the daily countdown of performers that will be leading up to May 23.
The BBMAs will broadcast live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. The awards include 16 categories like top artist, top male artist, and top Hot 100 artist. And The Weeknd is the top finalist at this year’s show. This year Billboard Music Awards will be hosted by Nick Jonas.
The Blinding Lights singer is the second artist in history to have three No. 1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 in three different years. One is from his album, After Hours. Meanwhile, it was previously revealed that P!nk will be receiving the Icon Award. This award honors the record-breaking artists and their impact on music. She will also take the stage to perform.
The BBMAs celebrate music’s greatest achievements as finalists are determined by their performance on the Billboard charts. Finalists and winners are then based on key fan interactions with their music, album and digital song sales, streaming, radio airplay, and social engagement. All these aspects are tracked by Billboard and its data partners, including MRC Data.
This year’s BBMAs are based on the chart period of March 21, 2020, through April 3, 2021. The 2021 Billboard Music Awards are produced by dick Clark productions, which is owned by MRC; MRC and Penske Media are co-parent companies of Billboard. Barry Adelman and Robert Deaton are executive producers of the show.
Tune in to the BBMAs on May 23 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on NBC.
