The release date for Lil Nas X’s “Montero” has been set for September 17th
Lil Nas X’s highly awaited debut album, Montero, will be released on September 17th via Columbia Records. In a teaser video that also features a preview of a new song, the rapper confirmed the release date.
In a statement, he added, “Creating this record has been therapy for me.” “I’ve learned to let go of attempting to shape people’s perceptions of who I am, what I’m capable of, and where I’ll end up. I’ve understood that my own opinion of myself is the only one that matters.
Last year, the rapper became famous for his song “Old Town Road,” which was followed by his Grammy-nominated debut 7 EP. Billy Ray Cyrus, BTS, CupcakKe, Lil Wayne, Young Thug, and Mason Ramsey all contributed remixes to the song. The song “Old Town Road” lasted 19 weeks at the top of Billboard’s Hot 100 list, a new record for the longest period at the top.
Montero will feature the rapper’s most recent single, “Industry Baby,” as well as his previous two singles, “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” and “Sun Goes Down.” The album comes after Lil Nas X’s 7 EP, which was released in 2019.
On the YouTube series Kerwin Frost Talks, Lil Nas X recently described the making of his album. During the hour-long chat, the rapper stated that he isn’t just interested in making attention-getting visuals, but also wants to make meaningful music.
He described the album as “everything uniting to one little planet.” “It’s fairly possibly the best. This Montero: This is how I feel about the future, about this previous event, about how this present thing is going, about this part of my love life, this part of my family, this part of my profession, you know? I’d like to introduce Montero to as many people as possible. It’s obviously darker, but there are still some bops.”
