The production of Bridgerton Season 2 has been stopped once more

Due to another positive COVID-19 test, Netflix has paused production on season two of their blockbuster series Bridgerton. Production companies are still suffering the affects of the virus after more than sixteen months of the outbreak. After being suspended because to positive COVID tests on site, production on Bridgerton season 2 began earlier this week.

Bridgerton first aired on Netflix during the Christmas season last year. The show, which had a total of eight episodes, immediately became the most popular on the streaming service, with 82 million homes watching it.

Season one followed Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor) on her search for a marriage, which she eventually finds in the Duke of Hastings, Simon Basset (Regé-Jean Page), but only after a lengthy verbal sparring session with her potential partner.

As season one draws to an end, the couple marries and gives birth to a small kid, bringing their love story to a climax and setting the stage for the second season’s plot.

Season 2 Halted

Season 2 of Netflix’s Bridgerton has been halted filming, according to Deadline, after another cast member tested positive for COVID-19. As the Delta strain spreads across the UK, the streaming service has suspended production indefinitely as they, along with producers at Shondaland, enact a plan for a safe return.

While Netflix has not commented on whether the positive COVID test was caused by a member of the cast or staff, the indefinite hiatus leads to assumption that it was most likely caused by an actor.

Given Bridgerton’s love for melodrama and intrigue, this frequent back-and-forth of production halts will only add to the series’ emotional roller coaster. The show will resume production at some point, much like Daphne and Simon’s back-and-forth romance, which finally ends in a wedding.

When that happens is anyone’s guess. While Netflix continues to follow all COVID-19 health and safety regulations, shutting down production for the safety of their employees is the best option.
