The Internet Is Not Pleased After DaBaby Apologizes For Homophobic Rant

DaBaby had recently been a part of a controversy when he made homophobic comments on stage at the Rolling Loud Festival in Miami. The rapper was called out by the internet for his offensive statements about individuals diagnosed with HIV.

In the middle of his performance, he was attempting to engage with the audience when he made horrific comments. He said, “If you didn’t show up today with HIV, AIDS, or any of them deadly sexually transmitted diseases, that’ll make you die in two to three weeks, then put your cellphone light up. Ladies, if your p**** smell like water, put your cellphone light up. Fellas, if you ain’t sucking d*** in the parking lot, put your cellphone light up.”

The statement being homophobic faced the wrath of the internet as users were outraged on social media. He was criticized by Terrence Higgins Trust as well as musicians like Madonna and Elton John. But DaBaby also attempted to defend himself which further added fuel to the fire.

Because of this behaviour, the rapper was dropped from several music festivals and he even responded to that. He took to Instagram to issue an apology for the statements he made. But the apology has failed to convince the audience that it is genuine.

Following the Rolling Loud Festival controversy, DaBaby was dropped from music festivals like Lollapalooza and Governors Ball. His performance at the UK Parklife Festival was also cancelled. Dua Lipa also took the step of removing the Levitating remix from streaming services, which featured DaBaby.

Rapper Was Removed From Various Festival Events

DaBaby was also removed from the lineup for the Day N Vegas festival. He was replaced by Roddy Ricch. The rapper took to his social media handle to apologize. He asked for apologies from the LGBTQ+ community for the hurtful and triggering comments he made. The rapper wrote,

“I want to apologize to the LGBTQ+ community for the hurtful and triggering comments I made. Again, I apologize for my misinformed comments about HIV/AIDS and I know education on this is important.”

DaBaby, however, initially called out the online community before apologizing. He had shared that social media moves fast and people want to demolish a person before them having an opportunity to grow, educate, and learn. The rapper added that having people he knows work publicly against him, and knowing that he needs education on these topics has been challenging.

But this did not make the situation any better as it backfired. Social media users were disappointed with this apology and called out the rapper yet again. Many users said, “DaBaby’s apology was DaBogus”. Users said that his apology was allegedly written by an intern or his PR team.

The criticism is coming fast and only time will tell if DaBaby will redeem himself and make a comeback any time soon. What do you think about DaBaby’s apology?
