Colin Trevorrow, the director of Jurassic World: Dominion, has revealed his favourite scene from the film. The Jurassic Park film series began with Steven Spielberg’s extremely popular picture in 1993, and was followed by a sequel, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, in 1997, based on Michael Crichton’s novels.
In 2001, Jurassic Park III was released, despite it had nothing to do with the original. Jurassic Park remained in limbo for several years after the third film, until director Colin Trevorrow retooled the franchise in 2015, launching the first Jurassic World film.
Trevorrow’s film was a box office blockbuster, inspiring a sequel, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, which was released in 2018. Now, the Jurassic World trilogy is coming to an end, with Jurrasic World: Dominion, the final film, set to hit theatres in 2022.
Trevorrow recently shared his favourite scene from Jurassic Park: Dominion in an exclusive interview with ScreenRant ahead of the film’s IMAX premiere. The director expressed his excitement for the film’s 5-minute prologue, which transports viewers 65 million years back in time to the Cretaceous period. Trevorrow underlined that the scene is more than just a trailer for the movie; it’s also an origin story that explains what the heroes and dinosaurs are up to now.
With Trevorrow’s words, the curiosity for Jurassic World: Dominion’s Cretaceous-era set prologue increases. The Jurassic Park and Jurassic World films have mostly focused on the present, which, while an exciting alternate reality to investigate, does not correspond to the story’s past.
However, now that the Jurassic World franchise is coming to an end, it’s critical to fill out the dinosaurs’ backstories, and the only way to do so is to travel back in time. Jurassic World: Dominion may have even discovered a means to keep the franchise moving in a fresh direction by journeying back in time.
