Terry Crews is already pitching ideas for a film adaptation of Brooklyn 99
Terry Crews is reportedly presenting concepts for a Brooklyn Nine-Nine movie ahead of the last season of the series. Since the show premiered in 2013, Crews has played Sergeant Terry Jeffords on the police sitcom, typically functioning as a supporting and loving caring parent to the rest of the detectives on the Nine-Nine.
Over the course of the show’s eight seasons, Crew’s character grew to take on some of the actor’s characteristics, such as his stringent fitness regime and love of dairy.
Since its debut, the show has gained widespread recognition and has won numerous awards, including a Golden Globe for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy in 2014.
The show has been off the air since April 2020, with the last season’s production being delayed due to the pandemic. However, in the aftermath of George Floyd’s death and the following protests against police violence, Brooklyn Nine-producers Nine’s and writing team have spent a significant amount of time revising the screenplay for season 8.
In reaction to the protests and increasing awareness of police brutality, creator and producer Dan Goor reportedly tossed away episodes that were set to air so that the series could better address the topic.

Crews remarked on the show’s bittersweet nature and the cast’s regret at seeing it come to an end in an interview with Variety about the approaching final season. He also admitted that the end isn’t always the end when it comes to television, revealing that he’s pitching a possible Brooklyn Nine-Nine movie.
According to crews “Everyone wants it back, and I’m ready to do it. I’ve already started pitching ideas. Hey, let’s make a new episode of Brooklyn Nine-Nine; we could do one every year!”
Community has been attempting to produce a film for quite some time, though the cast’s excitement is said to have contributed in speeding up production. If Crews is to be believed, the cast of Brooklyn Nine-Nine would be as excited to reunite for a film. Fans will have to wait until the ten-episode final season premieres on August 12th to discover if this is a possibility.
