T-ara Announces Comeback Date After Four-Year Hiatus, Fans Say They Will Save K-Pop

T-ara has returned! The legendary second-generation female trio has had its ups and downs, but it appears like 2021 will be their year. With viral singles like ‘Roly-Poly’ and ‘Cry Cry,’ the group dominated the K-pop industry when it initially debuted in 2009.

Their debut album, they won their first music show, and ‘Cry Cry’ topped Billboard for two weeks in a row in 2011. T-ara also took home a number of honours, including the Billboard Japan Music Awards, Gaon, GDA, and Seoul Music Awards. They were also named to the Forbes Korea Power Celebrity list in 2012 and 2013.

Despite their success, they encountered numerous challenges, including disbandment petitions and bullying rumours, which were subsequently refuted. T-ara decided to take a break in 2018. They had to fight a trademark lawsuit after they left their agency, MBK; because the label sought to trademark their name. The girl group would not have been able to regroup under the same name and play their old T-ara songs if the label had won.

Fortunately, during their four-year sabbatical; they won the trademark dispute. T-ara reunited for the first time during Chuseok 2020 and in July 2021 on the show ‘Ask Us Anything’. They then announced a fan meet-up, which turned out to be nothing more than a teaser for their future single.

T-ara’s new song, rumoured to be a pre-release of their upcoming album, will be released on November 15 at 6 p.m. KST (5 am ET). The song will be available on Spotify, Apple Music, MelOn, and other major music streaming services.

With a name like T-ara (pronounced ‘tiara’), people expected them to come up with elaborate comeback notions. They were, however, dissatisfied, claiming that the female group’s label, MBK, did only the bare minimum. T-ara has gone all out for their upcoming album now that they have officially left their label and are free agents with complete control over their releases. Two concept photos for their new song have been unveiled.

They channel their inner cowboy in one, wearing leather suits and wearing cowboy hats. They appear elegant in black studded clothing seated in a beautiful lounge in the second concept shot.

Excited fans made tweets like, “T-ARA IS REALLY BACK YOU GUYS THEY LOOK SO EXPENSIVE,” “Queens are BACK. T-ARA IS BACK TO CHANGE THE GAME AND SAVE KPOP,” and “2021 t-ara really out here doing everything they want to do”. Another fan added, “Let me just cry in the corner… t-ara is really back”. One fan commented, “Queen’s are you ready? gg! T-ARA IS COMIIIING!!!”
