Stars of Sweet Tooth Reveal Who They’d Like Producer Robert Downey Jr. To Play
The stars of Netflix’s Sweet Tooth, Nonso Anozie and Christian Convery, discuss what roles they’d like producer Robert Downey Jr. to play. Downey has moved his concentration to his producing side after hanging up his Iron Man armour for good following Avengers: Endgame.
Downey has helped bring the Vertigo comic Sweet Tooth to the small screen in addition to working as an executive producer on HBO’s Perry Mason. The series premiered on Hulu in 2018, followed by Netflix two years later. Sweet Tooth eventually appeared earlier this month, after a production that was hindered by the coronavirus pandemic.
Sweet Tooth takes place after “The Great Crumble,” a post-apocalyptic fall of society caused by a lethal virus. Hybrids, or children born half-human, half-animal, arose as a result of this event. Gus (Convery) is a young hybrid who leaves his lonely environment in search of his mother in Sweet Tooth. Gus teams up with grizzled loner Tommy Jepperd (Anozie) along the way, becoming a sort of makeshift family as they seek answers in a puzzling and frightening environment.
Of course, all of this is subject on Sweet Tooth being renewed for a second season. Netflix is yet to decide on the comic book series, which isn’t always a bad thing. Before giving judgement on a new show, the streamer is known for waiting a while.
Sweet Tooth has received acclaim from reviewers and fans alike, and it is presently ranked among Netflix’s Top 10 shows. With Downey’s support and strong reviews, the series could be renewed. Then perhaps Downey will be able to fit in an appearance onscreen despite his busy schedule.
