Sony has confirmed that Spider-Man 4, 5, and 6 will be directed by Tom Holland
Tom Holland will reprise his role as Peter Parker after Spider-Man: No Way Home, according to Amy Pascal.
Fans may already expect to see more of the wall-crawler in the MCU with less than three weeks until the latest Sony and Marvel Studios cooperation project arrives in theatres.
Despite prior rumors, Holland’s time as Spider-Man will not come to an end with Spider-Man: No Way Home, as there are already plans in the works for his future films in the franchise.
Tom Holland as director of spiderman
Kevin Feige was able to convince Sony to share Spider-Man with Marvel Studios in 2015, following the failure of The Amazing Spider-Man 2. This marked the beginning of the corporations’ collaboration, as Holland joined the MCU in 2016 with Captain America: Civil War. He’s reprised the role four times since then, including two times in his solo films, Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home.
The other two occurrences took place in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, respectively. Now, Peter Parker, who is based in Holland, is going to star in his third solo adventure, which is expected to be his most personal yet.
However, until today, little was known about the character’s destiny outside of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Pascal says in a new interview with Fandango that further projects with Marvel Studios are already in the works, with the goal of keeping the wall-crawler in the MCU for the foreseeable future. They are working on at least another trilogy, according to her. Read the rest of her remarks below:
“This is not the last movie that we are going to make with Marvel – [this is not] the last Spider-Man movie. We are getting ready to make the next Spider-Man movie with Tom Holland and Marvel. We’re thinking of this as three films, and now we’re going to go onto the next three. This is not the last of our MCU movies.”
The long-running collaboration between Marvel Studios and Sony almost came to an end in 2019, placing Spider-cinematic Man’s future in doubt.
Fortunately, all parties were able to reach an agreement, and the character was able to remain in the MCU. While the contents of the renegotiations have been kept mostly under wraps, Marvel Studios has chosen to make at least two more films with Holland’s Spider-Man — one of which is Spider-Man: No Way Home, and the other is a presently untitled ensemble feature.
