Song ‘Zaroori Tha’ Set a New Record:Rahat Fateh Ali Khan
World-renowned Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s song ‘Zaroori Tha’ set a record in terms of views on YouTube and became the most-watched song.
The number of viewers of the official video of ‘Zaroori Tha’ on YouTube has crossed one billion, after which this song has become the most-watched and liked song of any Pakistani song. About 6 years ago, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan released an album called ‘Back to Love’.
The most popular song on this album is “Zaroori Tha”. Those who like this song have given it a new honor. One billion people have watched it on YouTube so far and it is still growing.
On social media Instagram, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan also shared a post expressing happiness over crossing the milestone. Released on June 8, 2014, the song was included in the 2015 Indian film Our Unfinished Story. The video of the song included in the film has been pictured on Gohar Khan, Koshal Tandon and Eli Oram.
The composer is Sahir Ali Baga, who has composed the music for most of Rahat Fateh Ali’s songs. Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar’s song ‘Zaroori Tha’ has won the honor of being the first song in Pakistan to be seen by so many people.
While the multi-talened singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s recently released album Back 2 Love failed to garner success in Pakistan where his fans are more used to listening to his Sufi-esque renditions, one of the songs in the film, ‘Zaroori Tha’, has caught the attention of Indian film director Mohit Suri of Aashiqui 2 fame.
It was the portrayal of love and longing in qawwali maestro Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s song ‘Zaroori tha’, originally featuring Gauhar Khan and her alleged beau Kushal Randon, that made director Mohit Suri incorporate it in his forthcoming film Hamari Adhuri Kahani, according to IANS.
“Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s ‘Zaroori Tha’ is a fantastic song and I was deeply moved when I heard the song. It has so much romance, pain and love that I was touched. I am thrilled that the song is part of my film,” Suri said.
Hamari Adhuri Kahani revolves around a love triangle between Vidya Balan, Emraan Hashmi and Rajkummar Rao and it touches upon societal issues of marriage. Suri hopes that the song will be well-received by the audience.
“It has been picturised on Emraan and Vidya and the pain that they go through in love. The song just fits the theme of the film and I hope people will connect to it as much as I connected to the song,” he added.
This, however, is not the first time Bollywood has drawn inspiration from Rahat’s songs. His popular song ‘Mein Tenu Samjhawan Ki’ was recently copied in Karan Johar’s Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania with vocals by Ankit Tiwari.
An acoustic version of it was also sung by Alia Bhatt. But unlike K Jo, who ripped off Rahat’s rendition, Mohit will include the song with the singer’s original voice.
Produced by Vishesh Films and directed by Mohit Suri, “Hamari Adhuri Kahani” releases on June 12.
Atif Aslam stars alongside Gerard Butler and Hrithik Roshan
While a major chunk of Bollywood celebrities seem to be endorsing one brand or another in the local ad world, Pakistani singer and actor, Atif Aslam is all set to give tough competition to his Bollywood counterparts by starring in an ad opposite Hollywood heartthrob Gerard Butler as well as B-town’s very own Adonis, Hrithik Roshan!
In the commercial for UAE’s most renowned telecommunication company Etisalat, one can see Atif as part of an ensemble cast of celebrities who are considerably the most famous amongst the diverse population. Aslam can be seen looking dapper and quite the charmer in his rather small but interesting role.
The advertisement revolves around a man who challenges various celebrities and outshines them. Quirky dialogues follow after each ‘competition’ such as “You may out-style Atif Aslam or you may out-dance Hrithik Roshan but we challenge you to find a better network than Etisalat”.
The ad campaign, which is going to run through the United Arab Emirates, defines the popularity of our very own super-star Atif Aslam internationally. The singer, has also recently been in the news because of his latest single ‘Zindagi Aa Raha Hoon Main’ starring Tiger Shroff, as well as his possible upcoming debut in Bollywood.
