Shooting For REKKA Leaves Alexx O’Nell Breathless

Actor and Musician, Alexx O’Nell is returning to the OTT platform for his upcoming Bengali series called, ‘Robindronath Ekhane Kawkhono Khete Aashenni’ also known as REKKA. This comes after his last OTT series, Aarya in 2020. The actor was last seen in this year’s release, Roohi alongside Rajkumar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor.

The Bengali series is releasing on Hoichoi on Friday, August 13th. Alexx will mark his third collaboration with director Srijit Mukherji with REKKA. He will be seen alongside Bangladeshi actress Azmeri Haque Badhon. The series is based on the novel of Mohammad Nazim Uddin, which is also by the same name.

REKKA also features Rahul Bose, Anirban Bhattacharya, Anjan Dutt and Anirban Chakraborty. The actor recently discussed his experience of working with Srijit and Azmeri. He described working with the director as a pleasure. The actor explained this is because the director assembles incredible actors and technicians, chooses unique subjects and stories that are challenging.

Alexx added, “For REKKA, we shot in Kolkata, but also at Zero Point in Sikkim at an altitude of over 4,720 meters above the sea level. You would think that while working on the slopes of snow-clad mountains; the cold would be our main concern; but actually, it was the lack of oxygen that made the picturesque surroundings so dangerous. In fact, in between takes the cast and crew were inhaling oxygen from portable hand-held cylinders; to keep from experiencing altitude sickness! The funny thing is that this isn’t my first time high up in the snow with Srijit – our first outing “Yeti Obhijaan” was shot in Switzerland on Glacier 3000! I guess you could say that working with Srijit Sir has the tendency of leaving me breathless!”

Alexx Shares The Story Behind REKKA & His Upcoming Music Projects

The actor further added that REKKA has another element that will definitely take our breaths away and it is Azmeri. Alex described the actress is as “exceptional a performer as she is a beautiful and powerful woman, and sharing the screen with her in nearly all my scenes in her first Indian project was my privilege.”

Alexx further talked about his role in the series and shared that the story is captivating and it takes place in present-day West Bengal. He added that Badhon as Mushkan Zuberi runs her ‘Robindronath Ekhane Kawkhono Khete Aashenni’ eatery; (which in English means “Robindronath Never Came Here To Eat”). The actor shared that with time, Zuberi was accused of witchcraft and seduction because people went missing from the town. Further, the story goes on as “journalist Nirupam Chanda (Rahul Bose) dives into Zuberi’s past to uncover the truth.”

The musician continued, “What he finds is terrifying; – a tragic plane crash and the macabre and horrifying circumstances that surround the survival of Zuberi; Norman (Alexx O’Nell), and just a handful of other passengers, and how these events relate to the present”.
