Selena Gomez’s Cooking Show ‘Selena + Chef’ Renewed For Season 2

Selena Gomez’s Selena + Chef is getting renewed for another season despite premiering just this month. Seems like the HBO Max series is a hit with viewers and fans all around the world.

HBO Max made the announcement on Thursday that the show will have another season. Selena gave us a tour of her kitchen as the announcement for the second season came into being. She introduced her fans to her pasts shelves, which she is most excited about, with different kinds of pasta.

The singer then took us to her coffee and tea station and collection of cookbooks from chefs she’s collaborated with on Selena + Chef. “These became a huge staple,” she said, pointing to her knives. She revealed it was a big moment on the show.

Selena gave us a glimpse of her white clean plates and went ahead to show multicolored spoons. The singer’s pantry was fully stocked as she said she will show a true Texan pantry. She said, “Basically my Nana loves to have her pantries ready for the apocalypse, and that’s always been a tradition, so we have everything from flour to baking supplies. We have chips, of course. Look, I eat healthy, but I also have snacks!”

The tour was concluded with the cutest thing ever. Selena gave us a glimpse of her chalkboard in the kitchen which originally said, ‘All you need is love’. But it was wiped off to reveal something else. Selena explained that she has a seven-year-old sister, Gracie because of her, it was written ‘All you need is Gracie’.

A Donation of $100,000 Every Episode

Selena’s cooking show, Selena + Chef is available to stream on HBO Max.  In season 2, Gomez will continue her cooking adventures at home with a new roster of all-star chefs who will help her whip up delicious dishes. Like in its first season, each chef will highlight a different charity each episode.

Selena donates $100,000 to the charity of the guest mentor’s choice. “Learning from some of the best chefs in the world has vastly improved my cooking skills, but I have a lot more to learn. I am looking forward to challenging myself in the kitchen on the next season,” the singer said in a statement.

Selena Gomez got candid in one of the recent episodes of her new cooking show Selena + Chef. The singer opened up while addressing her life under the spotlight.

The singer was making roast chicken and bruschetta with chefs Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo on Thursday’s episode. Jon asked Selena whether she cares about people’s reviews and what they write or think. She answered saying she does not. Selena said it does not help her in any way. The singer added that the things that are helpful for her, is when it comes to her charity work.

Selena explained that she does not really appreciate the attention her personal life gets. She said that the part that frustrates her is when people think of her and think she is that girl who went out with that person. However, she did not take any names, it is no secret that she was in a high-profile relationship before.

BFF Taylor Makes An Appearance On The Show

Selena has always been open about giving back and that is what she does at the end of the episode. The show always donates $100,000 to a charity of the guests’ choice. Shook and Dotolo picked the NAACP.

In another one of Selena + Chef, her best friend, Taylor Swift makes a cameo. Selena had chef Choi Roy as the guest mentor in that episode. He taught the singer how to make Korean barbecue Texas breakfast tacos. After making the tacos, Selena calls up Taylor to show her the three delicious tacos that were laid beautifully.

Taylor seems amazed as she says ‘Oh my God’ and tells Selena if she doesn’t send her the recipe they will have words. She says she wants to be served that and the two best friends share a hearty laugh. Taylor further says she is very jealous of the whole setup and that they are cooking together.

Chef Choi and Selena joke that they can make her more jealous by eating it in front of her. Selena, later on, wraps up saying she just wanted to show Taylor and that she is very proud. Taylor, being the ultimate best friend shares her emotions. She says, “Do you know how long I’ve been waiting for you to become obsessed with cooking?”

In addition to Selena’s charity work, she has also found the Rare Impact Fund. It is linked to her new beauty line, Rare Beauty, which will be launched by September 3rd. This fund will help individuals in underserved communities get access to mental health services and support.
