
Selena Gomez Gives Back on Her 28th Birthday in the Most Purest Way
It is no surprise that singer Selena Gomez decided to give back on her birthday. The actress recently turned 28 on Wednesday. She announced that her beauty brand, Rare Beauty, will help connect under-served communities. She is referring to access to mental health services in these communities.
Prior to launching her beauty line, Selena has decided to give back in the most important way. Selena revealed that Rare Beauty had launched the Rare Impact Fund. This fund will collect $100 million over the next ten years. Not just that, this money will be used to help fill the gaps in mental health services.

She revealed that from the first product sale onward, one percent of all sales will be directed to the fund. Also, funds raised from partners will be dedicated to the Rare Impact Fund. The Impact Fund aims to be the largest known funds in support of mental health.
Selena expressed her gratitude towards her team for helping her make the Rare Impact Fund in a statement. She said since she started the brand they wanted to find a way to give back to our community. The singer said she wanted to support people who needed access to mental health services. It has a big part to play in her life.
Selena explained that Rare Beauty is focused on helping people feel more connected to one another and less alone in the world. Talking about the fund, she said it will make a direct impact on many lives and make a difference in the world. She further added, “I’m proud of the work we’ve begun to do with our partners to offer these services to anyone who needs support.”

Selena’s fans are ecstatic after hearing this announcement and came to her support. “This is next level status on how to use your platform for the greater good,” one follower commented. The CEO of Rare Beauty, Scott Friedman, further explained their aims and goals to make it a better effort for mental health services. He said their goal is ambitious and announced their aim of collecting $100 million in the next 10 years for mental health. The CEO further explained that with the launch of the impact fund, they will create one of the largest ‘philanthropic efforts focused on mental health in the world’.
Friedman also added that the funds will directly contribute towards increasing access to mental health services. Particularly, for underserved communities.
Rare Beauty has also created the Rare Beauty Mental Health Council, comprised of expert advisers from leading universities, organizations and companies focused on mental health. The council will guide the company’s aims to ensure maximum impact. Some of the council members include Dr. Marc Brackett of the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence and author of the book Permission to Feel, Dr. Scott L. Rauch, MD, president and psychiatrist in chief for McLean Hospital and Dr. Jane Delgado of the National Alliance for Hispanic Health.

Selena has always strived to raise awareness about mental health and its importance. During an appearance on Miley Cyrus’ Instagram live show, Bright Minded, she revealed that she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Selena claimed knowing everything about the disorder made her less scared.
Selena’s Gift From HBO Max
The singer has previously opened up about her battle with anxiety, depression. She revealed in the live show that she has undergone treatment for the same. Selena said she uses her tools that she found out about in therapy to get through this difficult time of social distancing amid the global pandemic.
The ‘Lose You to Love Me’ hitmaker received a gift basket filled with goodies from famous chefs on her birthday. Selena took to Instagram to share the sweet gift that she received. The Instagram account of maxPOP, partnered with HBOMax, shared a sweet clip of Selena unwrapping all the goodies.

Selena Gomez is going to host a cooking show for the network called Selena and Chef. It will be released later this summer. The singer looked excited and happy while unwrapping her food-focused goodies. “Hbd @selenagomez! ???? wishing you a sweet welcome to the @hbomax fam, and can’t wait to binge #SelenaAndChef,” the clip’s caption read.
After she opened all the gifts, she thanked HBOMax for her gifts. The gift basket contained stuff like a loaf of freshly baked bread. Selena saw the bread and said it is her “favorite thing in the world”. She also received pasta, wine, cupcakes, tomato sauce, and more. Nestled among the food items were numerous cookbooks written by celebrity chefs, including Nancy Silverton’s A Twist of the Wrist and Ludo Lefebvre’s LudoBites.

Selena thanked HBO Max and the wonderful chefs for her birthday gifts. She said she is very thankful and she can’t wait to make amazing meals. The singer hopes she can visit them soon.
‘I’ve answered that it would be fun to be a chef’
The network had announced that Gomez will be hosting a cooking show for the platform. HBO Max stated in a press release that despite Gomez’s other talents, it is yet to be determined if cooking is one of them. The singer was seen spending a lot of her quarantine in the kitchen.
“I’ve always been very vocal about my love of food. I think I’ve been asked hundreds of times in interviews if I had another career, what would I do and I’ve answered that it would be fun to be a chef,” the singer said at the time. “I definitely don’t have the formal training though! Like many of us while being home I find myself cooking more and experimenting in the kitchen.”

It will be a 10-episode series and in every episode, she will be joined by a different master chef. Together they will create different cuisines and share tips and tricks for cooking. Each installment will also highlight a food-related charity while embracing the joy and struggle of learning to cook.
