Season 3 of Dirty John: What to Expect

Season 2 of Dirty John, titled “The Betty Broderick Story,” is already available on Netflix; here’s everything we know about season 3 so far. The show began on Bravo in 2018 before shifting to the USA Network for its second season in 2020. It is based on the true-crime podcast of the same name. Dirty John premiered on Netflix a year after the first season aired, expanding its popularity and becoming one of the streaming platform’s most popular series.

The anthology series Dirty John season 1 focused on the life of conman and criminal John Michal Meehan, as well as his relationship with Debra Newell. The storey was first told in Wondery and The LA Times’ famous 2017 podcast, which was presented by journalist Christopher Goffard. The second season of Dirty John expanded on the podcast by concentrating on Betty Broderick’s murder trials and conviction.

Dirty John Season 3 Release Date

Dirty John’s third season will be ordered by USA, however the network has not confirmed this. The series was initially ordered for two seasons when it started in 2018. It’s feasible that the USA Network will elect to renew Dirty John for a third season now that season 2 has become one of Netflix’s most popular shows. If not, the show’s popularity might lead to it being picked up by another network or, more likely, Netflix in the future.

StoryLine

Dirty John’s first two seasons focus on storylines that begin with love and finish with murder. The unstable love relationships featured in both seasons have a significant impact on those who surround them, with family members and close friends being collateral damage in crimes involving terrible romance, family drama, psychological manipulation, and betrayal. If the show is renewed for a third season, this trend is expected to continue.

Showrunner Alexandra Cunningham revealed in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter that Dirty John season 3 could contain a story of love gone wrong amongst family members rather than a couple. “The ultimate example of love gone awry, in my opinion, is family,” Cunningham added. “I believe that’s where love gone wrong genuinely begins, especially for parents… If given the opportunity, that’s something I’d like to investigate.”
