Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi has wrapped filming with Alia Bhatt

Alia Bhatt wrapped filming on her next film Gangubai Kathiawadi on Sunday, calling the Sanjay Leela Bhansali-directed picture a “gigantic life-changing experience.”

Bhatt plays Gangubai, a powerful, well-liked, and respected madam from Kamathipura, Mumbai’s red-light district, during the 1960s. The 28-year-old actor took to Instagram to share photos from the set of the film with Bhansali and the rest of the cast and crew.

According to Bhatt, Gangubai Kathiawadi has experienced dramatic highs and lows, including two cyclones (Nisarga in 2020 and Tauktae last month) and coronavirus-induced lockdowns.

During the production, both Alia and Bhansali contracted COVID-19. “We began shooting ‘Gangubai’ on December 8, 2019, and the film was completed two years later!
