Regé-Jean Page Not To Play The Role Of Duke Of Hastings In Bridgerton Season 2

That yelling which is evident is by followers of Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings.

On Friday it was announced that actor Regé-Jean Page, who played the role of the extremely attractive Duke, will not be playing his role in the second season of the popular Netflix drama, “Bridgerton.”

This sad news for some has come in the form of a note from the show’s character Lady Whistledown, posted on the verified Twitter account of “Bridgerton”.

Adieu To Regé-Jean Page

“Dear Readers, while all eyes turn to Lord Anthony Bridgerton’s quest to find a Viscountess, we bid adieu to Regé-Jean Page, who so triumphantly played the Duke of Hastings,” the announcement read. “We’ll miss Simon’s presence onscreen, but he will always be a part of the Bridgerton family.”

Page was one of the artists who came out shining of the show and recently won the NAACP award for his role as the Emperor.

The actor told Variety one of the reasons he started with the profession was because he knew it would be temporary.

‘It’s A One-Season Arc’

“It’s a one-season arc. It’s going to have a beginning, middle, end — give us a year,” Page said. “[I thought] ‘That’s interesting,’ because then it felt like a limited series. I get to come in, I get to contribute my bit and then the Bridgerton family rolls on.””Bridgerton” is based on the 2000 novel “The Duke and I,” written by romance author Julia Quinn and is part of a series of books.
