Randeep Hooda Undergoes Major Surgery, Is Hospitalised

Randeep Hooda is an Indian actor and equestrian. Best known for his work in the Hindi film industry, he is the recipient of accolades such as two Stardust Awards and a nomination each for the Filmfare and the International Indian Film Academy Awards.

Hooda Hospitalised

A source close to Randeep Hooda informed that it wasn’t a regular hospital visit and, in fact, the actor has been admitted earlier today in the morning for a major surgery, which he has probably undergone as you read this.

Randeep Hooda has been hospitalised under worrying circumstances. The actor was recently seen outside a hospital in Mumbai, wearing a mask, where he was papped by photographers. A source close to Randeep informed Times of India that it wasn’t a regular hospital visit and, in fact, the actor has been admitted earlier today in the morning for a major surgery, which he has probably undergone as you read this. Even a COVID-19 test was conducted, though that emerged as negative. No word on the outcome of his surgery has arrived yet.

Randeep Hooda’s Hollywood Role

Earlier, Randeep Hooda had opened up on his Hollywood film, Extraction, with Chris Hemsworth, where he had revealed to IANS, “We practiced for weeks. We attended workshops and started with the basics of holding a gun, firing a bullet, throwing a punch. First, it was done individually and then it was Chris and I and then other actors. So the preparation work is what gives the scenes spontaneity. In Indian movies, people don’t pay too much attention to prepping for an action scene. They just turn-up on sets, and sometimes it’s just about the star value. But Chris came for all the rehearsals. Sam was helming it as well as physically shooting it, operating the camera, jumping on top of cars, hanging from ropes to capture the scene, so that made a huge difference.”

He had added, “I was glad to get the movie on two to three levels. I got to feature as the first Indian male actor doing the action in a Hollywood film. Breaking the stereotypes of IT professionals, millionaires, or comic relief in a film. It was great that I was able to break that barrier. I haven’t done hand to hand action much. I have an action image but haven’t done much action (on-screen). So, this was a new thing. It was a new territory for me as an actor, to be able to use other factors as an actor and not just drama, and to be able to use my body and to be able to learn new things.”

Career’s Turning Point

A turning point in his career came when Hooda starred in the commercially successful Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai (2010), and was subsequently noted for his performance in Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster (2011), which earned him an IIFA Award for Best Supporting Actor nomination. His starring roles in thrillers Jannat 2 (2012) and Jism 2 (2012) sustained him success at the box-office as he continued to garner praise for his performances in such films as the road drama Highway (2014) and the biopics Rang Rasiya (2014) and Sarbjit (2016).

In addition to his film career, Hooda has acted in numerous stage plays and had made his debut as a playwright with an adaptation of Lee Blessing’s A Walk in the Woods. He is also a professional equestrian who regularly participates in polo, show jumping and dressage events. He won a silver medal at an open dressage event in New Delhi that was organised by the Equestrian Federation of India.

We wish the actor a speedy recovery.
