Paul Bettany, of WandaVision once flipped out while trying on an out-of-vision costume

Paul Bettany, the star of WandaVision, admits he once flipped out trying to get out of his Vision outfit. Bettany has been a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe since the beginning, voicing J.A.R.V.I.S in Iron Man in 2008. Bettany made his debut as Vision in 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, after returning to voice J.A.R.V.I.S in the two Iron Man sequels.

Vision’s star-crossed romance with Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and his tragic demise in 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War prompted the smash MCU streaming series WandaVision to go deeper into his love with the Scarlet Witch.

WandaVision

From the first episode of WandaVision, it was clear that something was wrong in the sitcom-centric town of Westview. Wanda had constructed a fantasy world for herself in the Westview hex accidentally at first.

This was done in order for Wanda to have a happy life with Vision and their twin sons, Billy (Julian Hilliard) and Tommy (Julian Hilliard) (Jett Klyne.) Ironically, it was Vision who was the first to point out the problems in Wanda’s fictitious reality. In the series finale, he would restore his memories to White Vision and separate with Wanda once more as she lifted the Westview hex.

Bettany admitted to flipping out once during the filming of WandaVision in an interview with ACE Universe. He explained that he needed to change out of his Vision outfit after being in it for so long.

Fliping Out

Although Bettany described himself as “flipping out,” it’s natural that he needed a break from the outfit at the time. After all, not only did he have to film in the Vision outfit for several days in a row, but the suit had to be altered even further by the WandaVision special effects team for the ’50s and ’60s themed episodes so Vision would still appear like himself in black and white.

While the future of Vision’s return is unknown, Bettany is definitely a Marvel gem. It’s difficult to picture anyone else portraying Vision with the same kind of restrained intensity and gravity that Bettany does. Bettany’s post-WandaVision Marvel return should hopefully not be a question of whether, but rather when he will reclaim his famous character.
