Pakistan can beat India in the T20 World Cup – Wahab Riaz

Pakistan pacer Wahab Riaz feels that if his national side, Pakistan, plays to their full potential, they can defeat India in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. India currently enjoys a record of 5-0 whitewash over Pakistan in the T20 format of the game.

India and Pakistan will collide against each other at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on October 24 in a group league match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021.

With the World Cup less than two months away, Wahab Riaz, speaking to PakPassion.net, commented on Pakistan’s chances at the global event.

“They definitely have the ability to achieve that result,” Wahab Riaz said. “If Pakistan plays to its potential, then they can beat any team in the world including India.Twenty20 cricket is such a format that the whole match can turn in the space of a few balls or even one incident and the Pakistan versus India match will be no different. If Pakistan plays at their best, they can certainly beat India.”

The 36-year-old added that the conditions at UAE will favour the Pakistan team. In fact, Riaz feels that the Babar Azam led side will come into the tournament as an underdog but might even win it.

Pakistan is in Group 2 with India, New Zealand and Afghanistan being the other participants. Two more teams are expected to join Group 2 from the qualifying stage.

Pakistan had won the T20 world cup in 2009. However, since then, they haven’t been able to make a mark in the competition. They had finished last in Group 2 of the previous T20 World Cup held in 2016 in India. Of course, the group had strong opposition teams like New Zealand, Australia and India.

It will be interesting to see the way Pakistan performs at the global level.

Ramiz Raja set to become PCB chairman

Former Pakistan batsman turned commentator Ramiz Raja is set to become the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board(PCB). He is set to replace Ehsan Mani. The decision came immediately after Raja met the country’s Prime Minister, Imran Khan, who himself was the world cup winning captain of Pakistan in 1992. In fact, Ramiz Raja and Imran Khan were teammates.

Shoaib Akhtar, the former Pakistan bowler, has backed this decision. The “Rawalpindi Express” believes that Ramiz Raja can play a pivotal role in bringing back aggression into Pakistan Cricket, which seems to have been lost in recent years. The former pacer added, “Back in the ’90s, we used to play with aggression. He has been a part of the team during those days, he knows all about it. Our batting line-up was full of aggressive players.”
