Orlando Bloom to Produce Series About Human Rights Lawyer

Orlando Bloom has decided to executive produce an Amazon series. Amazon is developing a series about human rights lawyer Jared Genser, Variety reports.

The series is inspired by the lawyer and his firm. He and his team work to free prisoners of conscience (Human Rights prisoners) in high-risk areas throughout the world’s most difficult Hot Zones. The show’s official description reveals that the show includes specialized operatives with years of experience in the field.

There seem to be no guidelines only strategic decision making. It is reported that many of these cases have widely surfaced the international press, so much so that The New York Times deemed Jared “The Extractor.”

There are no writers at this point. However, Orlando and Bruce Richmond will executive produce. Jared will be a co-executive producer while Amazon will produce in association with Amazing Owl Productions and TrueNorth Media.

This is the first time that Orlando would be producing something for Amazon. He had signed a first-look TV and film deal with the streaming service last year. The actor is also a part of Amazon’s Carnival Row with Cara Delevingne. His show was renewed for a second season before the series was released.

Orlando is best known for his role as Legolas in Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings films as well as his role as Will Turner in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. His other film credits include Zulu, Black Hawk Down, Kingdom of Heaven, Troy, Elizabethtown, Digging for Fire, and The Outpost.

The actor recently welcomed his first child with Katy Perry. He had a baby daughter, whom he named Daisy Dove Bloom. Orlando shares a 9-year-old with ex-wife, Miranda Kerr. He was planning to get married this year but unfortunately, it had to be pushed because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The news of their newborn was first reported by UNICEF as they congratulated the couple. “Welcome to the world, Daisy Dove Bloom! We are honored to introduce Goodwill Ambassadors  @KatyPerry and Orlando Bloom’s new bundle of joy,” the organization wrote, alongside a photo of the new parents holding their baby’s tiny hand.

The couple also shared their own statements through UNICEF. They explained that they are floating with love and wonder from the safe and healthy arrival of their daughter. However, they also acknowledged that they are lucky and not everybody would be able to experience birthing as peaceful as theirs.

The couple further added that communities around the world are experiencing a shortage of healthcare workers. They stated that every eleven seconds, a pregnant woman or newborn dies, mostly from preventable causes. In their statement through UNICEF, they also added that many newborn lives are at risk because of the novel coronavirus pandemic. “As parents to a newborn, this breaks our hearts, as we empathize with struggling parents now more than ever,” the goodwill ambassadors shared. 

Katy and Orlando also said, “We know UNICEF is there, on the ground, doing whatever it takes to make sure every expecting mother has access to a trained health worker and access to quality healthcare. “
