Miley Cyrus Pens Heartfelt Letter To Hannah Montana Marking 15 Years Since The First Episode

Miley Cyrus is paying tribute to her iconic character and fan-favourite Disney show, Hannah Montana. She penned a letter to her old alter-ego and shared it on her social media handle.

The singer was marking the completion of 15 years since the Disney show premiered as a series. She wrote about how formative that period of her life on the show has been for her. The Plastic Hearts singer shared how important the character was to her at the time.

Miley started off the letter addressing the character. She wrote, “Dear @HannahMontana, I still love you 15 years later. #HMForever.” The singer wrote it in a Hannah Montana branded paper and it was dated March 23. She shared her thoughts with the character of Hannah all these years later.

The Malibu singer wrote, “Hi Hannah, it’s been a while. 15 years to be exact.” She further recalled the first time she put on those blonde bangs over her forehead in the best attempt to conceal her identity. The singer wrote, “Then slipped into a puke pink terry cloth robe with a bedazzled HM over [heart symbol].”

Miley explained that she did not know then that will be where the character will live forever. She shared that she will be there not just in hers but in millions of people’s hearts around the world. The singer added, “Although you are considered to be an ‘alter ego’ in reality there was a time in my life when you held more of my identity in your glove than I did in my bare hands.”

Miley Shares Her Ups And Downs In The Show

She further shared how her fame was shared with her alter-ego. “We had an equal exchange in which you provided a superlative amount of fame in return for the anonymity I could gift to you,” she continued.

Miley explained that a lot of things has changed since then. She described the character being a “rocket that flew” her to the moon and never brought her back. The singer shared that she could not have imagined herself singing, ‘I Love Rock n Roll’ against a white wall. She wrote, “I couldn’t have imagined when taping myself singing ‘I Love Rock N Roll’ against a white wall in my mum’s friend’s kitchen in Nashville, the name typed in marquee style letters on the front of a first draft script would make my wildest dreams a reality.”

The singer also remembered her paternal grandfather who she lost during the filming of the first season. She recalled how Hannah and her have been though it all together. The singer further wrote, “”You and I have been through it all together my friend. We’ve shared many firsts. A lot of lasts. Ups. Downs. Tears + Laughs. I lost my pappy, my Dad’s father while on set filming an early episode of season 1.”

Miley shared how he wanted to hold on long enough to catch the premiere of Hannah Montana. She wrote that he passed away on February 28th. The singer further shared that he did get to see the commercial that ran during High School Musical. She revealed it was the proudest moments in his lifetime and he was a “badass democratic state legislature”.

Miley Pays Tribute To A “Piece of Her” That Was Left Behind

The former Disney star revealed that her heart was broken but fulfilled to know she could carry his name beside her dad through every credit. Miley then recalled on both positive and less positive experiences. “I experienced falling in love for the first time in those years,” she goes on.

“Embarrassingly started my period in a pair of white capris. Of course on the day a ‘cute guy’ was cast + asked to have lunch with me. Instead I spent it in the bathroom with my Mom sobbing + scrambling to find a pair of fresh denim.”

Miley further paid tribute to other characters over the years who played a role in her time on the show. She shared, “I gained so many friends over the 6 years spent on set. Emily Osment, Mitchel Musso, + Jason Earles became my family. I was seeing them more than my own.”

She recalled her dad driving her to work everyday until her mom let her buy a Prius. The singer then shared, “Well besides my dad who I drove to work with everyday until my Mom let me buy a Prius. Which then I was only 15 with a permit so my co-pilot was my grandmother “Mammie” who ran my fan club MileyWorld out of the dressing room kitchen I shared my my Dad until our last day in 2011.”

Miley then recalled the end of the show and what it really meant for her. She shared as she said she will never forget that it was bittersweet to know she will be leaving the character which is a huge piece of her behind. The singer shared that it is where she said she grew up when asked and it was her home.

“I am indebted not only to you Hannah but to Any & everyone who believed in me…”

She continued, “The finale episode was appropriately titled ‘Wherever I Go’ after a final song by the teen pop sensation herself. You. Me? Hannah Montana. The first verse sings ;Everything is about to change. A chapter ending but the stories only just begun. A page is turning for everyone’. And then closes on a soaring chorus belting ‘We might be apart but I hope you always know you’ll be with me wherever I go’.”

Miley then addressed her character as she hoped to hear her and believe those words are true. She then shared all her love and utmost gratitude. The singer further explained that breathing life into the character for those 6 years was an honour. She wrote, “I am indebted not only to you Hannah but to Any + everyone who believed in me from the beginning. You all have my loyalty + deepest appreciation until the end. With all sincerity, I say Thank You!”

The former Disney star then addressed the entire team of Disney and all her fellow cast members, special guests, agents and managers. She especially mentioned her mother as she wrote, “To Disney’s entire team, all fellow cast members, special guests, crew, agents + managers, Especially my Mommy who took me to every lesson + audition even when it required leaving town or making a cross country move which my siblings so selflessly underwent.”

Miley showcased immense gratitude for the character as she shared that there is not one day that goes by where she forgets where she came from. She wrote, “A building in Burbank, California with a room full of people with the power to fulfill my destiny. And that they did. They gave me you. The greatest gift a girl could ask for.”

The singer concluded as she confessed her love for Hannah Montana and signed off writing, “Forever, Miley”.
